Question
How does darker color affect dissolved oxygen through the process of photosynthesis?
Expert Solution
Step 1

Dissolved oxygen is the free oxygen present in the water or other liquids, it helps in accessing water quality as the water organisms like fish, bacteria, fungi, and plants use dissolved oxygen for respiration.

Plants or some single-celled organism uses water and carbon dioxide to synthesize glucose and release oxygen by the process of photosynthesis. Light is very essential for the process of photosynthesis to be carried out so during day time the plants use sunlight as the natural source of light and store energy that will help them to grow and reproduce. During the night, the process of photosynthesis stops, and the plants switch from photosynthesis to the process of respiration which is opposite to photosynthesis as it utilizes glucose and oxygen to release carbon dioxide and water.
