How does the efficiency of aeroobic respiration differ from fermentation?

The efficiency of an energy generating process is determined by the amount of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) molecules produced.  The process of aerobic respiration is more efficient as it produces 32 ATP molecules as compared to fermentation that produces 2 ATP molecules.

In aerobic respiration, the process of glycolysis breaks down a glucose molecule into pyruvate that produces two ATP molecules and NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrogen).
