Race understood as a set of social relations, often play vital role in determining the power relations within society. Individuals or groups are classified in ways that one race becomes distinct from the others. This leads to the reproduction of patterns of inequality. These power relations based on the idea of superiority and inferiority give rise to the practice of discrimination which is referred to as racism. The practice of such systemic racism against the so-called inferior races at the hands of the so called superior races threatens the fabric of any society.
