Is it good or bad to crack/pop your neck? if either, why?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Neck cracking refers to the popping sound which occurs by the quick motion of the neck. In biological terms, it is called neck crepitus. The reason for the cracking sound is the air in the subcutaneous tissue. This sound can be generated by making the two rough surfaces of the body approach each other. Neck crepitus can be generated by exerting some force on the neck joint.  Crepitus can also refer to sounds of other joints such as knuckles and knuckles.
