In history class in general, topics about Canada has been spoke about and it is interesting to learn from this book. In the book, it had mentioned about the Immigration and races that it happening in Canada. The slaves that came from American, looking at Canada has the "promise land" surprised me because there are many ethnic groups that has suffered the way Canada has treated them and with their land as well. For example, the Inuit or the native Americans who lived their booted out to their land. It makes me think what would African Americans faced as well. Another thing that intrigued me in this chapter is that Brazil the categories of people based on their skin color was interesting to me. In United States if you are mixed with Black and White you are biracial or called mulatto as well but you are still categorized as Black unless you are "white passing". While in Brazil being mulatto it has its own category and the treatment is different among groups. It is interesting to see how in different countries interacting with different ethnic group in their countries and how they maneuver as well.
