- The Tinkan Company produces one-pound cans for the Canadian salmon industry. Each year the salmon spawn during a 24-hour period and must be canned immediately. Tinkan has the following agreement with the salmon industry. The company can deliver as many cans as it chooses. Then the salmon are caught. For each can by which Tinkan falls short of the salmon industrys needs, the company pays the industry a 2 penalty. Cans cost Tinkan 1 to produce and are sold by Tinkan for 2 per can. If any cans are left over, they are returned to Tinkan and the company reimburses the industry 2 for each extra can. These extra cans are put in storage for next year. Each year a can is held in storage, a carrying cost equal to 20% of the cans production cost is incurred. It is well known that the number of salmon harvested during a year is strongly related to the number of salmon harvested the previous year. In fact, using past data, Tinkan estimates that the harvest size in year t, Ht (measured in the number of cans required), is related to the harvest size in the previous year, Ht1, by the equation Ht = Ht1et where et is normally distributed with mean 1.02 and standard deviation 0.10. Tinkan plans to use the following production strategy. For some value of x, it produces enough cans at the beginning of year t to bring its inventory up to x+Ht, where Ht is the predicted harvest size in year t. Then it delivers these cans to the salmon industry. For example, if it uses x = 100,000, the predicted harvest size is 500,000 cans, and 80,000 cans are already in inventory, then Tinkan produces and delivers 520,000 cans. Given that the harvest size for the previous year was 550,000 cans, use simulation to help Tinkan develop a production strategy that maximizes its expected profit over the next 20 years. Assume that the company begins year 1 with an initial inventory of 300,000 cans. Please define the decision variables, define the objection function & define the constraintsPlease explain the answer with explanation asap: a) Which OR problem is this? b) Decision variable? c) Objective and objective function? d) Constraints?
- define your decision variables, then objective function, and constraintsState some key types of applications of the minimum spanning tree problem?Find decision variables, objective function, constraints and non-negativity constraints An auto company manufactures cars and trucks. Each vehicle must be processed in the paint shop and body assembly shop. If the paint shop were only painting trucks, 40 per day could be painted. If the paint shop were only painting cars, 60 per day could be painted. If the body shop were only producing cars, it could process 50 per day. If the body shop were only producing trucks, it could process 50 per day. Each truck contributes $300 to profit and each car contributes $200 to profit. In addition, the auto company can produce at most 30 trucks and 20 cars. The company wants to determine the daily production schedule that will maximize the company’s profit. Formulate the LP model for the problem.
- PROBLEM SOLVING (DECISION THEORY) Example: A farmer wants to decide which of the three crops he should plant on his 100 Acre farm. The profit from each is dependent on the rainfall during the growing seasons. The farmer has categorized the amount of rainfall as high, medium, low. His estimated profit for each is show in the table: Rainfall Crop A Crop B Crop C High 8000 3500 5000 Medium 4500 4500 5000 Low 2000 5000 4000 Determine the various criterion from which the final decision has to be made. If the farmer wishes to plant only one crop, decide which will be his choice using the following criterion•Maximax criterion •Maximin criterion •Hurwicz criterion •Laplace criterionHow do non-linear system models differ from linear models, and what are the challenges associated with analyzing and controlling them?Dynamic programming vs. classical programming: pros and cons?
- solve for the range of optimality, asap thank youSuppose a certain manufacturing company produces connecting rods for 4- and 6-cylinder automobile engines using the same production line. The cost required to set up the production line to produce the 4-cylinder connecting rods is $2,400, and the cost required to set up the production line for the 6-cylinder connecting rods is $3,900. Manufacturing costs are $13 for each 4-cylinder connecting rod and $19 for each 6-cylinder connecting rod. Hawkins makes a decision at the end of each week as to which product will be manufactured the following week. If a production changeover is necessary from one week to the next, the weekend is used to reconfigure the production line. Once the line has been set up, the weekly production capacities are 6,000 6-cylinder connecting rods and 8,000 4-cylinder connecting rods. Let x4 = the number of 4-cylinder connecting rods produced next week x6 = the number of 6-cylinder connecting rods produced next week s4 = 1 if the production line is set up to…Explain the process of using linear programming to make crashing decision?
