Student village is a place where most of the WSU students are accommodated especially those from the engineering department. Water crisis has been the norm year after year. To get water you need to stay in a que (line up) for the whole day. This is embarrassing. The mechanical engineering students has now discovered that the cause of long ques for the whole day it is because of the volume flow rate of the water in the pipes. Students have now decided to make an investigation in the pipe supply arrangement using three pipes. The total discharge in the pipes is 200 l/sec. The investigation is as follows: 1. To determine the flowrate in each pipe if the three pipes were connected to make a compound pipe. 2. To determine the flow rate in each pipe if the three pipes were connected in parallel to two points A and B. The physical characteristics of the pipes are: Friction factor (f) 0.02 0.02 Pipes 1 2 3 0.02 Length (m) 1000 1000 1000 Diameter (m) 0.10 0.20 0.30
