Expert Solution
Introduction

There is debate in sociology about what are the leading theoretical paradigms are that drive the discipline.

The three theoretical paradigms are :

  1. Structural Functionalism,
  2. Symbolic Interactionism, and
  3. Conflict Perspective.
Explanation

Structural-Functional paradigm

This theoretical paradigm views society as a dynamic integrated system of parts that operate in unison. The importance of social structure and a relatively stable pattern of social behavior is emphasized in this approach.

Symbolic – Interaction paradigm

A micro-level paradigm, which corresponds to an individual-level approach, is the name given to this theoretical model. Society is presented as a dynamic, ever-evolving occurrence or drama involving symbolic interaction. The use of symbols to communicate and share ideas is the primary goal of this approach.

Conflict paradigm

This theoretical paradigm is regarded as a macro-level, inequality-focused approach. Unequal shares of desired resources favor a minority while affecting the majority make up society. Conflict occurs as a consequence of a society's unequal allocation of desirable resources.
