Question

Expert Solution
Introduction

Infection refers to the entry of microorganisms into a host body followed by multiplication of the microorganisms. It generally impairs the health of a person, and the condition in which a microorganism enters into the body and produces ill effects is referred to as an infectious disease. The common signs and symptoms associated with an infection includes fever, chills, shortness of breath, etc.

Viruses are non-cellular organisms that are composed of genetic material and protein. The protein coat of the virus is referred to as the capsid. They are generally inert outside the host cell, and are capable of replication only when they are present inside a host cell due to the lack of cellular machinery.
