Eyes are the important organs of the visual system. They detect the light and convert it into electro-chemical impulses present in the neurons. They provide vision and the ability to receive and process visual detail to the organism. Eyes help to enable many photo-response functions which are independent of vision.

The causative agent of trachoma:

Trachoma is a common bacterial infection that adversely affects the eyes. It is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. These bacteria can even cause the sexually transmitted disease (STD) called chlamydia. This infection causes mild irritation or itching of eyes and eyelids. The untreated trachoma can even lead to eventual blindnes.
