What is the action of Sympathetic division (arousing) on heart beat functioning when a crisis happen?
Nervous System -- Structurally the nervous system is divided in to two parts ( i ) Central Nervous System - Which consists of brain and spinal cord . ( ii ) Peripheral Nervous System -- All the neural tissues out side CNS eg. Cranial nerves , spinal nerves and peripheral ganglion Peripheral Nervous System is of two types or nervous system can be divided in two functional parts
1- Somatic Nervous System - This system causes contraction of skeletal muscles and is associated with voluntary response . Many responses can be taken without conscious awareness eg. breathing .
2 - Autonomic Nervous System--The Autonomic Nervous System controls cardiac and smooth muscles as well as glandular tissues . The ANS is associated with involuntary responses related with homeostasis . This system is instrumental in homeostatic mechanism in the body .
Homeostasis is the balance of the two systems .
The Autonomic Nervous System is divided in to two divisions
( i ) Sympathetic division ( ii ) Para sympathetic division
The anatomical distinction between sympathetic and para sympathetic divisions demarkated by location of the presynaptic cell bodies and the types of nerves conducting parasympathetic nerve fibers .
The Sympathetic division is very essential for preparing the person for any emergency .This part of nervous system is associated with the 'flight or fight response '. Activity is referred by epithet of rest and digestion . The sympathetic and parasympathetic division of ANS are activated together for a common response and are complementary to each other .
The Sympathetic Nervous System is defined as thoraco lumber division of autonomic nervous system which help to controls initiation if body is in stress in form of ' flight or fight response '.
