tested, and data collected and analyzed. The analysis will include the appropriate presentation of data
using a graph to illustrate your conclusions.
Scientific Method: Sponge Animals
In this experiment, you will determine if varying water temperature has an effect on the rate of sponge
animal emergence from a gelatin capsule. The sponge animal containing capsules are common toys
usually labeled as "magic capsules." The animals emerge, or "grow," when placed in warm tap water as
the gelatin capsule dissolves. One capsule will be used in a combined class control group and the other
three will be used in your lab group's experimental treatment.
