Biology is actually the science of life. Its name is forned from the two different Greek words "bios" (life) and "logos" (study).

Biologists actually  study the structure, origin, function, growth, evolution and distribution of living organisms.

There are generally considered to be at least nine "umbrella" fields of biology, each of which consists of multiple subfields. 

Some of these major fields are zoology, botany, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology etc.
