Resistance is the opposition offered by the material of conductor against the flow of electrons. The velocity acquired by electrons under an electric field is called the drift velocity. From equation I=VR , I is the current, V is the voltage and R is the resistance. Current is inversely proportional to resistance. The opposition experienced by electron is reduced, it can move more distance with greater speed which means that more current is produced by increasing the drift velocity
