Why is it less likely that a part would be damaged with brazing than with welding?

To determine

The reason of a part being less damaged by brazingas compared to welding.

Explanation

Brazing: Brazing is a joining method which is used to join similar or dissimilar metals with the help of some filler material. The liquidus temperature of this filler material should be more than 427o Celsius but it is limited by solidus temperature of base metal.

The brazing process is carried out at the temperature above 450oC and the parts to be joined are kept at the very close distance. The distance between the parts is generally 0.4 mm to 0.6 mm. The small spacing ensures that the liquid metal seeps inside the small spacing through capillary action.

Figure 1: Brazing done on a lap joint.

The brazing process provides sufficiently strong joints and can be used at the places where permanent joints are required.

Through brazing, the heat source is used which does not melt the base metal...
