    Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel was born on November 15, 1891 in Heidenheim, Germany. In World War I, Rommel gave himself a name in the German Third Army in 1910. He was called brave for his leadership. After the war he stayed with the army instead of leveling up. When Adolf Hitler became chancellor in 1933, he recognized Rommel’s ability to become a true man of power. By 1938, Rommel was a senior military figure in Wehrmacht. In February 1940, Rommel was named commander of the 7th Panzer division.
