Specific Aims A recent public health concern has implicated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics, commonly used in recyclable plastic water bottles, as a common source of carcinogenic xenoestrogens. Xenoestrogens act as hormone disruptors, and can alter the natural homeostasis of the human body. Exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals has been known to cause cancer, sexual dysfunction, and problems during puberty.
