color of the Ethiopian flag: green, yellow, and red. Standing in front of the empty restaurant, I was bombarded with several modern advertisements on the clear, see-through windows in the form of stickers promoting their restaurant meant to attract customers such as “Free Wifi Inside”, “We Deliver”, and “XFINITY WIFI is here”. In addition to the advertisements, the door held two open signs— one electric and one plastic— along with the name Nani & Hareg in striking gold and red letters, and upon further
cousins Nick, Jason, Jared, Danny and Monica. Well in his family every year they would by tons of fireworks for the 4th, well this year they decided to play capture the flag with the fireworks. Lets just say that was not the best idea in the world. “Let the game begin,” my dad yelled as the first game started. Both teams had hidden their flags on either side of the house up on Jean Street where my dad was living
As the red, white and blue flag waves in the breeze and the prominent two-and-a-half-minute song is sung, what runs through your mind? For many people its pride and honor. It’s the thought of many families who lost loved ones fighting for freedom. The same freedom that allowed us to be on that big field or stadium on which we’re listening to the song. Next time you are in a stadium, look around and take notice of who sits and who stands during the national anthem. Imagine to see one of the highly
today. The four most important symbols in my life are a cross, a family, the Vietnam flag, and the piano which all connects back to one big symbol, a heart. To begin, a cross is one of the most important symbols in my life. The cross symbolizes my religion which represents my hope and faith. The cross is where the Lord our God died on. As a catholic, the cross is important to me because it reminds me
conversation with a couple in their mid-forties. This wasn't horrifying to watch, it was just boring. I jumped up and asked her if she wanted to go jump the waves with me. I loved pools, so how different could the ocean be. While we were walking in I saw a red flag go up nearby. I chose to ignore it
Enron. I did not understand why it went so far as to changing the name of a stadium from Enron to Minute Maid Park. I was only a teen at the time, but now I am not. I now hope to explain my opinion on how the past, the executive’s and outliers were red flags prior to the Enron crisis. My thoughts on how they could have handled the matter. Lastly, express what I would have done if I was an executive or general council to such a company. Above I stated that risks were everywhere in the case of Enron.
It is always quite exciting when a novel is adapted to be shown as a movie. I’m usually in the habit of comparing and analyzing if the movie version was faithful to the book. Many times the movie director and screenwriters have to decide whether to include certain scenes or not. This aspect is controlled by the rating they want the movie to end up with, depending on their target audience. I found a number of differences between Roth’s novel and the movie. In my opinion the general imagery of the
As much as people try to avoid it, fact is that no one in this world is born equal; there is always something unique that sets one different from another. It is those differences that require us, as Barbara Jordon says, “to accept people who are different that ourselves.” Jordan emphasizes the importance of tolerance and how it helps us develop into better societies and people. During the 1930’s, different races in the United States were being discriminated against their skin tone and placed on separate
few games. Refusing to stand for the National Anthem shows disrespect to the flag members of armed forces. For example, “The national anthem pays respect to the people who have risked their lives, been injured, or died defending the US.” Without a doubt, this is 100% true because why should someone be able to take a knee and disrespect the flag when people risked their lives for us to be free. Yes, that's what the flag represents but people should never bite the hand that feeds you.The writer of
The movie Divergent is based on the novel by Veronica Roth. The book and film takes place in future Chicago where there are five factions; Dauntless, Abnegation, Erudite, Amity, and Candor. People in future Chicago take a test to determine what faction is most like them. If multiple factions are the result of the test, then it is determined that the person is Divergent. This is a rare story of Beatrice Prior’s experience as being Divergent and surviving in the Dauntless community. The movie starts
