Education is very important. Students being able to concentrate and focus in school is very important. The problem is that we can’t meet everyone’s satisfaction. Dress code, SOL testing, and many other things are issues. One such issue is class scheduling. I believe 4x4 scheduling would be a better option for everyone. 4x4 block scheduling would be easier.. Teachers have to teach 3 classes for 90 minutes each and get a 90 minute planning period, which gives teachers time to prepare for the class. Teachers even have less students to teach with the 4x4 schedule which means less papers to grade. Also for students, 4x4 block scheduling is less overwhelming than A/B. 8 classes at a time is a lot to handle and definitely a lot to remember. Students
Having seven classes one after the other, about forty-five minutes each is stressful. It's difficult to make all your classes a priority as it's a tight schedule. You have to worry about what you're doing in seven classes EVERY DAY. A report by the National Education Commission on Time and Learning advised: “schools to be less rigid in how they use time and urged the use of block scheduling and an extended school year”. It is important for schools to use the class hours wisely and effectively, not shoving in as much as they can into small timed classes. Advocates of block-scheduling say “longer classes create more opportunities for hands-on lessons and allow students to concentrate on their work for longer stretches without being interrupted by the ringing of a bell”. Allowing students more time to work puts less pressure of being ‘finished by the bell’. They also say less time is wasted. Block schedules reduce the time students use walking class to class, and the time it takes to get settled into the day's lesson. Once you decrease this time wasted and increase the learning period, students will feel less stress. They will have fewer things to worry about, as will the
In contrast to a traditional school schedule, a block schedule consists of different variations, such as A/B and 4x4 schedules. In an A/B schedule, classes meet every other day for an extended period of time. Students take eight classes throughout the year, taking four classes on A Days and alternating the other four on B Days.“The A days would be Monday, Wednesday, Friday, etc. Each class period
This would take pressure and stress off of students. Also, giving them the choice to sleep for more than eight hours would be beneficial for the students. Having classes with the same career type students would help the students become comfortable with working with them. Even different organizations and group are starting to say year-round school and career based education would be beneficial. So, my school would be year-round and also give students the career based education that they
At WHS, each teacher teaches five classes and has one duty period. With the block scheduling, every teacher has one day where they teach three classes and have one prep period. The other day, they have two classes, a duty, and a prep period. Last year, my mentor and I email the staff about their preference for the second semester duty. I took into account these preferences and their free periods when making the schedule. When I created the duty schedule with her last year, I found that odd days have more academic instruction and that there are significantly more teachers with lighter instructional loads on even days, causing scheduling difficulty for having a good number of teachers on hall duty on odd days.
The problem is the world is different nowadays. Things are not a simple as they were in the past. It would be a blessing for students to be able to go to bed at the same time after they finish homework and be able to wake up 2 hours later. It is crazy how people think students can function after waking up at 6, then going to school for 7 hours, then having to do homework to all hours of the night, and having to repeat the cycle all over again. Students have to go through this rigorous day 5 days a week.
Students wouldn't be late for class if they had the time to get ready, sleep longer, and eat breakfast. When some students aren't ready, their parent or guardian leaves them behind causing them to either not go to school or be late. There would not be as much skipping school from tiredness and laziness from having to wake up so early, and there would be less zeros in the grade book for late papers. Classes could even do group activities for students being there. Teachers frequently complain about absences, so why not help out with the
This gives students the opportunities to do what they enjoy. Also, recess is also something we should have. Recess would kids a break and let them get that energy out. Last, are classes should be shorter. Shorter classes can help kids stay focused more and can give them a better learning experience.
Why is this a problem? Some teachers tend to assign a tremendous amount of homework, and it's laborious for us as the students to get all assignments completed in one night. This layout of classes guarantees multiple evenings to complete work. At this same point, it’s exceedingly wearying to have to study for so many tests and quizzes. Projects are another example that could come to your attention when working in a class. Projects are most likely the most time consuming task you will have to complete for any class, and having them be assigned in multiple classes is excessive. The A-B Block schedule vastly assists work overload and is compatible with the due date and
In every teacher or parent survey the number one thing that most parents and teachers are worried about is class size because most adults want their student or kid to have a small class size so then he or she gets all the support they can. New York city schools, has said class size and teaching improvement is something very important because having a big amount of students in one class will be a distraction for others. Many schools agree. Overcrowding schools is a big
Have you ever wanted more time? Have you ever wanted to go to your lockers after every class? Have you ever forgotten anything because you don't have enough time in class? THen you agree with us to change th 8th grade schedule to match it with the rest of FCHS. Think about all the things that would be better, there will be no more sore ankles, more time in class to learn, best of all lockers after every class. The 8th grade schedule will not prepare us for the later years in high school, because we can't go to lockers after every other class. We don't have a lot of time between classes and walking a lot. Finally we don't have enough time in class.

The time frame of the new school change would be 9 week quarters, 3 classes per quarter and a three hour core class in the morning. We already have a way to early of a time to start school for kids. It is a proven scientific statistic that kids’ brains do not start functioning and are ready to learn until ten a.m atleast. Sitting in one class right in the morning for three hours is not going to help that cause either. Sitting and focusing for three hours
Over two million people do not want to have all around school. I felt like all around school is just too long for some people. Now some people like all around school, but the reason I am not being that some of the students do not learn as much, high school kids may not have it and all of the others will, and it will put stress on the kids. Do you think we should have all around school? Though I do not want all around school just because it is too long.
If there were smaller classrooms then it would be easier to teach in a smaller room because there are less students. Grades are being affected something must be done.
It is pretty apparent that in America, and elsewhere, most parents and general adults want what is best for their children in terms of education. This mindset can be seen reflected in the legislative aspects of our education system; there are many incentives pushing through the school boards and legislatures of our nation in order to attempt to further refine the education system. This is important as it allows us to refine traditional American education in order to improve upon it, and one of these attempt refinements and improvements has to deal with the subject of class size. For many people, large classroom sizes are a spawning ground for many issues with the education system: high distraction in the classroom, teacher inefficiency, among a plethora of others. Although it may seem regressive to favor small classes over bigger, more potentially diverse classes, small class sizes are more beneficial for education in that it is less distracting for the students and raises the possibility of staying focused, it potentially raises teacher-student relationships, and it allows for better results and better statistics coming from these smaller classes.
