Argument Essay The topic of gay marriage has always been controversial. Anytime the idea of same sex couples being allowed to marry is brought up there’s almost always an argument started. It’s viewed by many as wrong and many think it should remain illegal, but why? If two people are happy, no matter the gender, why should anything stop them from marrying? Male and female, male and male, or female and female, it shouldn’t matter; if they’re happy and want to marry, let them. Most often the idea of gay marriage is viewed as wrong because of religion. In the bible it states that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Although the bible was written a very long time ago and I believe

Being truly happy is the only way to maintain a successful relationship.
Another topic that raises a lot of conversation is the fact that same sex marriage affects the couple’s children. It’s argued that both a male and a female need to raise a child “normally.” A parent is a parent; if they are good at it then the child should not be affected by it at all. There are plenty of ways for a young boy to “bond” with a female and vice versa. A child goes to school which is the number one way to make friends and communicate with the opposite sex. With school comes extra curricula’s like sports, music, plays and a lot more, which are all ways to develop relations with the opposite sex. There is no difference between a straight family and a same sex family. The topic of same sex marriage will always be controversial and raise conversation. With the low divorce rate and the couples coming out, it’s only a matter of time. Although you may not agree with it, it could make a difference and change, which is what America is all about. So whether you are for or against same sex marriage, think about how happy you are with your current status and then think about how happy same sex marriage could make a
Many different places have many different views on the belief that gay marriage is either right or wrong. In America, at least 37 states and D.C allow same-sex marriage to take place (NCSL). Within these states, some were originally okay
In recent years, same-sex marriage has become a more controversial topic on whether it’s right or wrong. People should not feel coerced to agree with something they believe is wrong; clearly, same-sex marriage is immoral and unnatural. Many complications come with same-sex marriages including financial pressures, social pressures, moral pressures, and health risks.
Marriage between homosexual couples is just as normal as any other marriage. They may share a home, raise children, have careers, and go on vacation just like any other family might do. Two men being married is not harmful to society and it does not affect the lives of those surrounding them. People can
People in general will always disagree on something due to their fundamentals beliefs that was either taught to them or in their mind they come to a definitive conclusion. With this in mind, a person who was raised in a good Christian home will more than likely be raised to believe that homosexuality is a sin. That a man should not be with another man or that a woman should be with another woman. That is what many people have been set to believe for a very long time. This applies to relatively every religion and also to people who are not religious, but that does not mean it should be automatically accepted as such. Gay marriage has been a universal controversy around the world for centuries, even the bible mentions homosexuality as a sin. For decades, this has been argued as gay people have fought for the right to be married. In the article “Gay Marriages: Should They Be Legalized?” it stated that, “the Supreme Court declared in 1967, is "one of the basic civil rights of man" (and,
Gay marriage has been a very controversial issue recently. The constitution does not say that gay marriage is legal or illegal. But, the constitutions does say in the 14th amendment that everyone is created equal. The constitution states that our rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If your pursuit of happiness is to marry the same gender then that is your right.
There are over 105 million households in the United States today and out of those households, there are over 1.2 million gay people living with same-sex partners (“Census on Gays in America”). This makes the proposed legalization of same-sex marriage one of the most significant issues in contemporary America. It is presently one of the most discussed reforms in law reviews and the American court systems. If legalized, it could be one of the most revolutionary policy decisions in the history of America, along with women’s rights, interracial marriage, and slavery. There are many people who are opposed and feel it is morally and ethically wrong and others who feel that same-sex marriages are acceptable. Prior to
Marriage within the United States has always been focused on one man and one woman being together for the remainder of their lives. To have marriage be centered on the union of a man and a man or a woman and a woman is preposterous. Marriage is needed to keep our society prosperous with the production of children who will one day take over the roles of their parents when they pass on. Marriage between couples of the same sex will not produce children, thereby defeating the purpose of marriage altogether. It is argued that same-sex couples could increase the number of adoptions of needy children in the United States, this much is true, but belonging to a household where the heads of the house are of the same-sex could cause problems for the child in the long run. Bullying and teasing in school will undoubtedly surround these children daily, it is not worth the emotional pain that will inevitably befall these children to give them a home in a same-sex household, no matter how loving these parents are.
Those that are oppose same sex marriage focus their reasoning on religious beliefs. Same sex couples do not want to be treated as second class citizens, they do not focus on what religion states; they just want to be treated as equal as heterosexuals when it comes to their right. Same sex couples believe if one is to bar any class of people from marrying whomever they choose, it then deprives them of their social institution; that many feel defines the most meaningful part of life, to marry someone one loves. Same sex couples believe that their relationships are no different than that of a heterosexual marriage. Same sex couples can have maintain a home together, provide an environment that children can thrive in and care for each other the same as heterosexual married couples do (Goldberg-Hiller, 2002).
In 26th June, 2015, same sex marriage has become legal throughout USA, it became the 5th American country which recognizes same sex marriage. It draws public attention back on whether the same sex marriage challenges heteronormative assumptions within society or not again. In the following paragraphs, the essay will discuss first what is a heteronormative assumption in the society and why the marriage of same sex couples with impact society norms, followed by the evidence that support the notion, and also the counter attack towards the argument, finally, the evaluation will illustrate both opinions and come to a conclusion.
Just about everyone has an opinion on legally allowing same-sex couples to marry. The arguments range from personal beliefs to what marriage is said to be in the Bible. Why should a couple be forbidden from showing each other along with family and friends that they are fully committed to each other? What place is it for the government to say that said couple is not allowed to commit to the one who truly makes you happy? Why should these people who are willing to be together for better or worse, in sickness and health, for richer or poorer not get the respect, consideration, and benefits that any opposite sex couple are granted?
For many people in the United States gay marriage is a sin to their religion and will not be tolerated. For others It is a right to be able to marry whoever you love and is considered discriminatory if you do not accept it. To start off, legal gay marriage started in The Netherlands on April 1, 2001 with a Female and three males two of the males were legally getting married while the other two (one female and one male) were previously married legally.Second, Legal gay marriage in the United States first happened on May 17, 2004. But this doesn't mean gay marriage was legal all over the United states. Oral discussion over this topic happened on April 28, 2015. On June 26,2015 it was finalized that gay marriage is a right protected. Though, there
Gay marriage is one of the most controversial issues in this modern world. In my opinion I do not consider “gay marriage” marriage, because marriage has always been a covenant between a man and a woman by its nature. When two men or two women “marry” it denies the reputation of keeping the human race and the raising of children. Gay marriage also violates the natural law, and we should follow “avoid evil and do good”, the natural law is for every human being in the world and we should follow it by marrying the opposite sex. I believe that Gay marriage is one of the most unfavorable law that could of happen. I am against this law because not only it breaks the natural law but it also brings more diseases to homosexual people and instead
Same sex marriage has not only been argued by those who oppose as only being a union between man and woman. Those opposed can also argue that marriage is not between two people (a man and woman) but of those not related. This brings in the argument of the what deontologists would support “ The Slippery Slope” argument, which argues that allowing same sex marriage will only lead us down a slope that welcomes incest and polygamy. Those who support this also feel that if gay marriage is allowed that it would threaten the institution of marriage. I disagree with this argument. I feel that now days a person is going to do what they want. As long as there are two consenting adults then gay marriage should be allowed. Same sex couples want to be married for the same reasons as heterosexual couple. I do not feel that allowing gay marriage says hey you can now marry your brother or sister etc.
Gay marriage is wrong. The bible says that,” man may not lay with mankind, neither woman with womankind”. The bible quote means that a man and man shall not be together nor a woman and a woman, and the importance of this quote from the bible is that if man was with man and woman was with woman, none of us would be here right now. Christianity is not the only religion that says that gay marriage is wrong. There are over 15 different religions that think gay marriage is wrong. Muslims and Buddhists are two examples of these religions. Gay marriage is wrong and should be illegal because there are plenty of facts and reasoning behind it.
First, gay marriage should not be allowed because some people think of its religious immorality. Same sex marriage is considered as unacceptable to almost every religion in the world. Marriage is established by God in Paradise for our first parents, Adam and Eve. Jesus Christ once taught: “From the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife.” (“10 Reasons Why Homosexual “Marriage” is Harmful and Must Be Opposed”). Also, Genesis wrote, “God blessed them, saying: ‘Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.’” (“10 Reasons Why Homosexual “Marriage” is Harmful
