On April 10, 2016 60 Minutes aired the interview of Steve Kroft with Tim Roemer, a former Democratic congressman and U.S. ambassador to India. He claimed that the government should release the “28 pages” to the public, the 28 pages are documents explaining how in 9/11 the hijacker might have had some assistances from Saudi Arabia. Specifically he claimed that by declassifying the 28 pages, it will help the government in furthering their understanding of the 9/11 attack and help prevent future terrorist attacks. As Roemer said “Look, the Saudis have even said they're for declassifying it. We should declassify it. Is it sensitive, Steve? Might it involve opening-- a bit, a can of worms, or some snakes crawling out of there? Yes. But I think we
Something as small as leaving a bullet casing behind will get you sent home. In phase two you learn about camouflage, small unit tactics, patrolling techniques, and how to retrieve in and out of a dangerous situation without being seen. Phase three consists of more intense training and preparation. Everything that was taught helped me go above and beyond my goal.
The morning was like every other, people woke up got ready for work, sent their kids to school and some were even still sleeping in bed. The news was on giving updates on the weather, famous people, and even regular TV shows were going. 92 people were boarded and taking off on the American Airlines Flight 11, a Boeing 767 around 7:59 am September 11, 2001. Everything seemed normal nothing to worry about, but then everything changed and almost at the same time too. Flipping through the channels you could see it on every channel. A tragedy was happening, a plane had crashed into one of the trade center towers.
The Oklahoma City Bombing of 1995 is known to be the “worst act of homegrown [domestic] terrorism in the nation’s history” (FBI, 2010). On April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh, parked a rented box truck outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. No one knew that, “inside the vehicle was a powerful bomb made out of a deadly cocktail of agricultural fertilizer, diesel fuel, and other chemicals” (FBI, 2010). Before he exited the vehicle and headed towards his getaway car, he ignited two timed fuses – at exactly 9:02AM, the bomb exploded. The explosion killed 168 people, 19 of those being children, and injured nearly 650 (Scott, 2013).
The reporter stated the children told their father they don’t know the last time they took a bath and whenever she bathed them the bath water was completely dirty. The reporter stated the children are underweight even though their mother receives food stamps. According to the reporter, all three children had sores around their mouths, in their heads, on their backs and buttocks, and on their arms and legs. Ms. Ballard stated she called to ask Brittany it was. The reporter stated Ms. Smith told her she did not know and had not seen anything on the children. Ms. Ballard stated she and the children’s father took them to be seen at a hospital on 07/05/15 and the children were diagnosed with Infantago. The reporter stated she later called Ms. Smith back to ask her for the boy’s insurance card in order to take them to see a doctor and pick up their prescriptions but she refused and did not give it to Mr.
Two weeks ago, Mr. Knight was contacted by law enforcement with suspicions that Will stole someone’s gun and sold it. According to the reporter, the child’s father made contact with him to tell him he’d been evicted from his home and did not know where Will was. The reporter stated Mr. Knight is a truck driver and has been living in his truck; Will was left with his grandmother after they were evicted. Ms. Jordan and Will got into an argument and the child ran away from her home and the family has not been able to find the child before 08/06/15. Per the reporter, the child was found at school; it’s unknown who registered the child. Mr. Knight stated on 08/06/15, he picked the child up from school to question him about the stolen gun. The reporter
"This is 911, what is your emergency?" A desperate eleven year old girl tried to answer the operator's question, but all I could manage were sobs.
Claire Alistar shifts in her seat to cross her right ankle primly over her left and readjusts her large, black sunglasses so that they sit farther down on her nose so that she looks even more unimpressed. "Beck got caught during a job in cicily? Really? Cicily?"
On 10-9-17- at 11:00 am the reporter was driving by when a twelve boy was aiming and holding a black (22 or 32 automatic handgun) on the corner of a busy street. The child was pointing it all everybody that passes by. The child runs around the neighborhood pointing the gun. There are others children played outside in the neighborhood. The reporter stops at home to get the address and spoke with an adult in the home. The child's sister (unknown) was outside playing as well. The reporter asked the sister to get her mother (unknown). The sister went into the home to get the mother. The sister came right back outside and stated that: "Her mother is not at home. She will tell her that you stop by." The reporter stated that: "Do you know it dangerous
After a tragedy like 9/11, I am sure that many people were scared to death and would not want to leave their houses to go outside. Many had already died, some were in hiding and the rest were missing. No one was ever going to leave their homes to go to a football game, no matter, how badly they wanted to before. Litsay & Williams (2001) believe that the reason the sporting events were postponed or cancelled was because N.F.L commissioner Pete Rozelle made a mistake of playing weekend games after President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and they did not want to make the same mistake he did (para. 6). They continued by saying, “N.F.L. officials are still sensitive about the action 38 years later. Rozelle said years later that his decision to continue play had been the worst mistake of his career. ” (Litsay & Williams, 2001, para.7).
1) I think the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon affected both short and long term productivity in the U.S.It affected short-term travel the day of and weeks to follow the attack.Increased security and delayed/canceled flights were in high volume for weeks after. This caused a decrease in productivity because less planes were allowed in the air and business was done less efficiently. This affect has carried over in to the long term as well.Travel is still slowed down due to heavier security screenings and more laborers are required to ensure the safety of travellers.
This weeks article was titled, “A History of The 9/11 Attacks” The main idea of the article is that on 9/11/01 there was a terrorist attack. Two Planes crashed into the twin towers and killed 3,000 people. The 19 attackers were here months before september 11th. They smuggled box cutters and knives into the three coast airports. Planes crashed into New York buildings, American airlines flight 77 went around Washington DC and slammed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters. 125 people were killed in the pentagon, along with 64 aboard the airliner. Three thousand people died in the world trade center, including 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York police officers, 37 port authority officers. Only 6 people in the
September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
She thought about how unfair it was for countless of innocent people to go to work only to end up suffering and dying.
According to the text (Gesell and Dempsey, 2011), the airport and airplane security architecture and protocol remains fundamentally the same, albeit beefed-up, both pre- and post-9/11. The preponderance of the regulatory and statutory changes from the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) to the Transportation Security Regulations (TSRs) were for the most part a renumbering and relocation exercise. However, there were changes to processes and procedures as well as transfer of responsibility from airport and airlines to the federal government’s Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) with the passage of the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA) in 2001.
It is official, the Twin Towers (aka the World Trade Center)have been hit by planes and collapsed. This horrifying event happened on September 11,2001 (Tuesday) at 8:45 a.m. in New York City. A hijacked plane (American Airline Flight 11 coming out of Boston, Massachusetts) Crashes into the North tower.A terrorist had taken control of a flight that he/she had boarded earlier and drove it into the North Tower putting a hole in the building and setting it on fire.At 9:03 a.m. a second hijacked plane (United Airlines Flight 175 also from Boston, Massachusetts) crashes into the South Tower. Setting it on fire also. Dan Rather says “We’ve never dealt with these kinds of hateful to the
