Much to the disappointment of many conspiracy theory advocates and myself, the collapse of the World Trade Centre (WTC) Building 7 on September 11th 2001 was likely due to structural failure cause by uncontrolled fires. It is noted that still to this day, fire has never before reduced a steel sky scraper to rubble. This is because fires do not produce enough concentrated heat and energy for the required amount of time for structural steel member to fail. Further to this, high-rise buildings (including those of the same calibre of the WTC Building 7) typically have –
i. Automatic suppression systems installed, ii. Fire-proofed structural steel members, and iii. Are designed to withstand localised failure, suggesting that it should not cause
In this article, one of the main issues is that the tower’s structural engineer, Lee Robertson, addressed the problem of terrorism in the plans for the building, claiming he “designed it for a (Boeing) 707 to hit it”. In the center of the tower there is a central support core. This core is built of sheer concrete reinforced by 44 beams of construction grade steel, which were sealed in asbestos. When the plane hit the north tower it took a direct hit to the core, but the plane that hit the south tower went in on an angle, almost parallel to the core structure. The fuel barley grazes the core of the south tower, with most
On September 11 2001 Kristen Marcinko was at the RACC college at an federal army building in reading . The 9/11 attack was in New York City and it was a federal attack and since my mom was working in a federal building they had to evacuate because they had a chance of getting attacked.
Before the settlers landed in Jamestown, The Indians occupied the land and lived there for centuries. They were the first people to arrive in Jamestown. Some say there were 25,000 Indians; others say around 50,000 of the American natives, who lived on the land. There were about thirty different tribes whom the powhatan chiefdom took charge. However, each tribe had their own chief. In time there would be a change; King James 1 of England granted for another colony to be established under the Virginia Company of London which consisted of many wealthy Englishmen who wanted to invest their money into the company. They expected to
The melting point of the steel used to construct the twin towers is 2750 degrees Fahrenheit (“The 11”). Steel loses about half, or 50 percent of its strength at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit and 90 percent of its strength at 1800 degree Fahrenheit, the jet fuel did not have to burn at 2750 degrees Fahrenheit (“The 11”). Many airplanes have very large amounts of aircraft aluminum in their wings, which is aluminum and magnesium mixed together which can burn at over 5610 degrees Fahrenheit (“The 11”). That 5610 degrees is more than enough to burn the Twin Towers down (“The 11”). The jet fuel, or kerosene, most likely only burned for the first ten minutes after the initial impact of the plane to the buildings (“The 11”). The Twin Towers did not burn down within the first ten minutes; therefore, the jet fuel was not the only source of fire (“The 11”). This research shows that there were several causes that ignited several different fires that caused the Twin Towers to fall and burn. The theorists cannot say that someone started a hotter fire because of all the other factors that played in the
No steel-beam high-rise had ever before (or since) completely collapsed due to fires! However, such complete and nearly symmetrical collapses in tall steel-frame buildings have occurred many times before—all of them due to pre-positioned explosives in a procedure called “implosion” or controlled demolition. After analyzing the 9/11 Commission report is it clear that there were multiple structural shortcomings on behalf of the Federal Bureau of investigations(FBI) that may have contributed to their inability to stop the 9/11 attacks. Additionally, there was lack of oversight on the FBI by the Executive and Legislative Branches.
As you may remember, my topic is about the impact of 9/11 on the American society. My last book, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Foer mainly talked about a family and the struggles they encountered when they lost someone who meant a lot to each of them. For my next book, I chose The Zero by Jess Walter for two main reasons; neither was because it just simply “matched my topic”. One reason is because the title itself has a deep meaning behind it. The title refers to the ground zero of the twin towers. The other reason is because the main character is a police officer who was a first responder to the attack, and my father is a police officer as well. I wanted to understand how officers cope with events that will give a scare to
“The (WTC) collapse appeared to be similar to a controlled demolition” (Thomas, 07/08/2011). Many speculated that the towers were in fact blown down with explosives placed in selected locations. Some witnesses accounted hearing explosions inside the building as they attempted to escape the building. Many architects and scientists maintain that jet fuel cannot produce enough heat to melt the steel frame of the two buildings. There were no planes to hit building 7 of the trade center, but it was demolished in the same fashion as the twin towers were.
A YouTube user who was tired of seeing posts about a 9/11 conspiracy theory all over the internet, decided to post a video of himself proving the theory wrong. The man states in the beginning of the video that its purpose is to try to put this "moronic" theory to rest once and for all. He says that on his Facebook feed, he repeatedly sees people claiming that, since jet fuel only burns at 1500 degrees and steel melts at 2700 degrees, the 9/11 terrorist attacks must have been a conspiracy.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, an Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda carried out a series of four attacks on the United States. The most well-known attack is when two commercial airline planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. Many innocent lives were lost and families were torn apart. While many Americans were determined to show their resilience towards the attacks, this is a day many Americans will never forget. Although the attacks happened sixteen years ago, Americans are still dealing with the impacts these attacks have had on life in America. The 9/11 attacks have had several long-lasting effects on everyday life in America, some of which include an increase in airport security, a change in national security, and an increase the fear of terrorism.
On September 11, 2001, 19 people hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against their targets.. Two of the planes crashed into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters. (“9/11 attacks”2010). The conspiracy theories started just days after the September 11, 2001 attack. The conspiracies were easy to spread fast when using the internet and they became more and more elaborate as time went on. The most popular 9/11 conspiracy theory is that 9/11 was orchestrated by the American government.
Also if one takes a look at the video footage of the World Trade Center’s collapsing, one can clearly see several levels down a perfect explosion coming out level by level by level. The explosions are so precise that there is no possible way that they could’ve occurred by the collapsing itself. These explosions were caused by bombs that were placed inside the World Trade Center days before September 11th. An unexplained fire drill evacuation can prove that claim because why would everyone be ordered to evacuate the building days before September 11th? Maybe they were preparing for something in the event of an emergency (Hoffman, 2005). Actor Charlie Sheen says in an interview with Texas radio host Alex Jones (2006), "Call me insane, but did it sort of look like those buildings came down in a controlled demolition?" (¶ 3).
September 11, 2001, was a day that caused physical and emotional destruction because of the terror attacks that took place at the World Trade Center and the Twin Towers. There are many conspiracy theories that have come up causing great speculation of what actually happened and are argued to this day.A conspiracy theory is a theory that explains an event as a result or secret plan organized by a covert group. Many conspiracists believe that the United States government was behind the 9/11 attacks and altered the events and information and persuaded citizens into believing that the Islamic group Al-Qaeda was responsible. Similarly in 1984 by George Orwell, the government alters the truth to keep control of the country. The main protagonist Winston Smith works at the Ministry of Truth where he works to destroy any evidence where Big Brother could be called into question and also changes how events happened to fit the Party’s expectations. The purpose of his job is for the other citizens to continue to believe that Oceania is a perfect place to live in because of its economic, social, and military dominance. The Party is also responsible for watching and hearing everything that happens in Oceania. The Thought Police placed telescreens in every household and through these telescreens everything someone does can be seen and heard leaving no one with privacy; comparable to how after the 9/11 attacks, security across the United States tightened up. Anything that was seen as suspicious
September 11, 2001 was a day that everyone who was old enough to remember will remember for the rest of their lives. I was in the fourth grade when the World Trade Centers were crashed into. I remember our principal coming on the intercom and saying that we were not allowed to turn our televisions on. I did not understand the magnitude of the situation until I got home and my parents explained it to me. I remember that every plane I saw over my head scared me and I was afraid that a plane was going to be crashed into my home or school. The general population reaction to the attack was that of hysteria and worry. People were afraid of flying. People also feared that this was only the precursor to an even bigger attack that was being planned on the United States. The public wanted someone to blame for the incident and they wanted to know why the government had not prevented the attack if they had been given intelligence that an attack might happen. The years leading up to this terrible day in history were full of tough decisions. No one can say that the government was not interested in terrorism at all. They had small departments in the FBI and CIA that looked at and interpreted terrorism related intelligence. The decisions the government had to make changed the United States forever. There was not one factor that defined how the government dealt with terrorism collectively. The government had to take into account not only the actions to take against
On September 11th, 2001, two planes collided with the twin towers which supposedly was the catalyst of their destruction. The claimed reason for this destruction was an infernal blaze, which resulted in the complete combustion of the fortified steel beams. However, did the planes possess the power to bring down the World Trade Federation Towers on their own? After some further analysis, particularly controversial conclusions may be drawn, through three points: the claimed points of impact being false, jet fuel being unable to melt steel beams and explosive matter being found in the atmosphere.
