Brittney Poljacik U.S. History- C 9-7-15 The Relevance of History: September 11, 2001 On September 11th, 2001 four airplanes were hijacked by 19 militants from the Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda. Two of the hijacked planes hit the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York. The third plane hit the Pentagon right outside Washington D.C. The fourth and final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. This tragic event in history is traditionally viewed as a terrorist attack on the US by an extremist group called al-Qaeda. Claims were made by al-Qaeda that they had planned, arranged, and organized the attacks. Since that day in history the Islamic group has never been viewed the same. Al-Qaeda is an Islamic organization that was founded by Osama bin Laden, Abdullah Azzam, and many others, somewhere between August 1988 and late 1989, with traceable origins of the Arab volunteers who …show more content…
“Right before the September 11th attacks, some fishy business happened within the stock market and insurance firms. An “extraordinary” amount of put options were placed on United Airlines and American Airlines stocks, the same airlines that were hijacked during the attacks.” (The 11 Most Compelling 9/11 Conspiracy Theories) Along with that, there are theories that say the towers didn’t collapse because of the planes, but actually collapsed from bomb explosions in lower levels. “Many architects and scientists even maintain that a plane’s fuel cannot produce enough heat to melt the steel frame of the two buildings that collapsed.” (The 11 Most Compelling 9/11 Conspiracy
September 11th 2001 there was a surprise attack on the United States by terrorists. The terrorists allegedly hijacked four airplanes. One was meant for the White House, one was meant for the Pentagon and the other two were meant for the twin tower which fell and many lives were lost. However some say it was not terrorists and that it was the United States government and that the government set a bomb and that they had several motives to do this.
Explain in your own words how the threat, the attack and the response to the September 11, 2001 attack moved American policing into the era of Homeland Security
September 11, 2001 was not just any ordinary day for the citizens of the United States and the city of New York, but a devastating attack that has put us all in shock and fear. As all of you know, the Tuesday that this country was ambushed and attacked destructively by terrorists, was one of the saddest days America has ever seen. Not only did it affect the people that were in the World Trade Center Towers and the loved ones who unfortunately passed away, but it affected our country as a whole. Scared, devastated, astonished, and surprised are just a few words that begin to describe September 11th. As separate states and people, I can confidently say that America has never been closer together as one than on that
Also if one takes a look at the video footage of the World Trade Center’s collapsing, one can clearly see several levels down a perfect explosion coming out level by level by level. The explosions are so precise that there is no possible way that they could’ve occurred by the collapsing itself. These explosions were caused by bombs that were placed inside the World Trade Center days before September 11th. An unexplained fire drill evacuation can prove that claim because why would everyone be ordered to evacuate the building days before September 11th? Maybe they were preparing for something in the event of an emergency (Hoffman, 2005). Actor Charlie Sheen says in an interview with Texas radio host Alex Jones (2006), "Call me insane, but did it sort of look like those buildings came down in a controlled demolition?" (¶ 3).
The morning of 9/11 I wasn’t going to go to work because I had an allergy appointment,
Those who believe the WTC was destroyed by controlled demolitions argue the debris that blew out of windows was the result of an explosive. But experts disagree by saying the debris was simply the contents of the offices inside being blown out with air as the floors collapsed on top of each other. Also, demolition professionals say explosives are placed on lower levels, whereas, the planes hit the buildings at very high floors. No signs of a bomb were found in the wreckage of the buildings (Debunking the 9/11 myths, n.d.). Those who believe the planes that hit the WTC were remote controlled say there is no way al Qaeda could have even come up with the plan to hijack and crash the planes, much less have acted it out within an hour. The manufacturer stated the planes that hit the buildings had only one system of control: from the flight deck. Many telephone calls were made from passengers on the planes saying they were being hijacked.
In 2001 on September 11, there were attacks that were made at the two world trade centers in New York City. These attacks led to things America has never seen before. The attacks of September 11, 2011 forever change security in the united states as well the American people’s thoughts of immigrants
On September 11, 2001 terrorists apprehended 4 airplanes and committed the most heinous act in American history. They flew two planes into the world trade center, one into the Pentagon, and one crashed in a field in Pennsylvania crash killing more than three thousand American citizens. Since 9 /11many things have changed in America in relation to our national security.
Since the terrorist attacks on 9/11, America has been on edge about the topic of terrorism. Groups like Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Taliban, and now more recently, ISIS, has kept the world cautious of their every next move. Looking more closely into how these groups are formed and operate could help us better understand how they can be stopped. Studying the history of terrorist organizations can help us better predict the future of terrorist organizations.
The Hijacking of four planes and those were American Airlines flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, American Airlines Flight 77, and United Airlines Flight 93. Two hit the World Trade Center 1 and 2. One other plane hit the Pentagon
After analyzing the 9/11 Commission report is it clear that there were multiple structural shortcomings on behalf of the Federal Bureau of investigations(FBI) that may have contributed to their inability to stop the 9/11 attacks. Additionally, there was lack of oversight on the FBI by the Executive and Legislative Branches.
On September 11th 2001 at 8:46am tragedy struck in lower Manhattan as 2 hijacked Boeing 757 aeroplanes crashed into the world trade centres north and south towers in an act of terrorism carried out by Al-Qaeda.
On September 11, 2001 an Islamic terrorist group attacked the usa. This group disliked the USA a lot but they did not have the sufficient power to attack the USA directly. They decided to crash four planes into memorable places in the USA.
September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
It was a series of catastrophic terrorist attacks that changed many people’s lives and will be forever unforgettable. It began as a lovely sunny day but in a matter of hours, many lives were lost and the safety of our nation was in immediate danger. These attacks were a changing point in American society and are the most tragic event in American history. Not only Americans but Muslims and Islamist were
