Influences shape the way we live. In today's world, many things have influences on our lives. 9/11 has made a huge impact on the 21st Century. 9/11 has changed America’s involvement in wars, security, air travel, as well as many other things. The attack on 9/11 has definitely made the biggest influence on the 21st Century, and I believe the internet and its many uses have made the second greatest influence.
The internet is a global computer network that allows us to connect and share information with people all across the globe. Throughout the world, most people have access to the internet, but not everyone. This allows people to have access to information right at their fingertips. If there is something you forgot or you are just curious about, there are many search engines, such as Google, that can give you the answer in seconds. Anyone can post something on the internet and everyone can access it. One problem that arises with this is anyone can post anything they want on the internet, so not everything is true. So when looking for information it is important to look on credible sites. Despite this downside, the internet still provides endless amounts of useful information.
People even have access to websites where they can earn their degrees. This allows people who are too busy, unable, or just do not want to go to college on campus, study and take classes online from the comforts of their home. The internet has provided information that has allowed many people to
Not only did 9/11 impact America physically, but it also took a huge toll psychologically. People responded to the terrorist attack with fear and started developing feelings of intolerance for immigrants, specifically immigrants who were or appeared to be from the Middle East. For example, people known as Sikhs, who followed Indian religion are targeted because they wear turbans, which are stereotypically associated with Muslims. Since the fatal attack, hate crimes associated with people of Islamic background have risen in the U.S. Mosques and temples of those who practice Islam as a religion have been targeted. Innocent people who are Arabs or are Muslim, now have to live with the unfair stereotype that says all Muslims/Arabs are terrorists.
I know Jordan was deeply impacted by the events of 9/11 where as I was more influenced by everything that followed. The Toledo Blade printed American Flags with patriotic song lyrics on the back that we hung in our front window for years. Patriotism was everywhere that you looked, even though we were a nation that was healing we knew how to lift each other up. Then it all changed, the flags started to disappear and people started to hate anyone who might slightly look like a terrorist. The war waged on with no end in sight and everyone seems to be sick of what America has become. Instead of banning together with patriotism we are offended by everything and anything. We now turn entire groups and races into villains based off of one person's
On the morning of September 11, 2001, an Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda carried out a series of four attacks on the United States. The most well-known attack is when two commercial airline planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. Many innocent lives were lost and families were torn apart. While many Americans were determined to show their resilience towards the attacks, this is a day many Americans will never forget. Although the attacks happened sixteen years ago, Americans are still dealing with the impacts these attacks have had on life in America. The 9/11 attacks have had several long-lasting effects on everyday life in America, some of which include an increase in airport security, a change in national security, and an increase the fear of terrorism.
four airlines and carried out suicide attacks against the United States buildings. 2,996 people were killed and more than 6,000 other were injured. 9/11 was the biggest influence on the United States. The attacks on 9/11 toward the buildings, there has been changes in airports and the immigration system. There has been domestic spying on the citizens of United States, people were changing their trust in the government, and the ongoing wars.
At 8:45 am in the morning, the month of September, day 11 and year 2001 is a day that we wish would have never happened. The death of over thousands of souls was caused by two hijacked planes headed straight into the world trade center. This date caused the whole country to become one. The country came together to love, care, and respect one another, but that did not last long. To this day, even years after the unforgettable incident of 9/11, the attack caused racial tension against those of different races and division towards other countries.
Sixteen years ago, on a late-summer Tuesday morning on the North East, some said you could see miles out from the highest buildings. In New York specifically, the day was like every other for most people.New York’s mayoral elections were being held that day, Jennifer Lopez’s new hit,“I'm Real”, was sailing the charts, the movie, “Hardball”, just released to moderate acclaim, and an economic recession was coming to an end. Millions were on commute around the country, and for people in New York City, It was no different. The Twin Towers, part of the most famous skyline in the world, was part of the World Trade Center Complex which was made up of seven different buildings. Approximately 50,000 people worked in the complex, and another 140,000
9/11 was the most scary thing that happened to america. 19 terrorists hijacked the three planes and used them to destroy different places and the World Trade Center. An estimate of 185 people were killed in the pentagon from flight plane 77 while it crashed into the building. It took the World trade Center 142 minutes totally collapse. In 2001 Osama Bin Laden took responsibility from doing the damage. A total of 2,749 people died. 19 terrorists hijacked the three planes and used them to destroy the building. The average age of the the people at the World trade center was two to 80 years old. The clean up took as long as may 30 2002 after the attack. On flight 93 40 died when the plane crashed in the field. Flight 77 took out an part of the
Decisions impact everything, even if it’s not your decision, it could still impact what you do. If it is something you don’t like, you can make the decision to argue. The other person can make the decision to argue back. Then, you two will make the final decision. Your decisions will affect people’s emotions. There are millions of decisions being made that affect people in all different ways, but 9/11 and drunk driving are very memorable events, that have been, or are all over the news.
When someone hears the word tragedy, many different words may come to mind. A tragedy is an event that occurs that brings great destruction and despair to everything it affects. 9/11, or September 11, was completely unexpected and devastating to the entire United States, and even to many other countries around the world. 2,753 people have now perished thanks to this horrific occurrence, varying from two years old to 85 (cnn.com, 2015). Clean-up afterwords cost nearly 750 million dollars, and much more economic costs were spent by the United States(cnn.com, 2015). But, years later, it still makes a big impact on our decisions as a nation, just as it did when 9/11 first happened. Long-terms effects of 9/11 include the way airports and planes are handled, the way American muslims are looked at, and how tourism and travel have changed.
On September 11 of 2001 an attack on the twin towers was committed by a group led by the notorious Osama Bin Laden who had his own ideology about the United States. Four planes were deployed around the United States commencing his act of violence. One plane crashed on the Pentagon, two on the twin towers, and the last one supposedly heading towards the White House but failed to reach. George Bush called this assault “War of Terrorism”. Countries felt insulted and stunned. War was declared war upon Afghanistan in a matter of hours but the invasion of Afghanistan took place on October of 2001. But even though war was declared By almost three thousand people perished by either jumping from buildings or by being crashed brutally by the jumpers
The 9/11 World Trade Center events are one of the darkest stains in the history of mankind and most of society never managed to understand how people can adopt such horrifying methods with the purpose of expressing themselves. These events change the world completely, as every domain ranging from aviation to local police experienced reform and were reorganized with the purpose of being able to deal effectively with potential terrorist threats. Economics, politics, and society in general came to use different strategies from that point on and it is actually difficult for someone to claims that he or she never experienced the aftermath of the 9/11 events.
September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
On September 11, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. on a sunny Tuesday morning, a 767, American Airlines Flight 11, loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, near the 80th floor of the 110-story skyscraper. Instantly killing hundreds of people. Media streamed it as a freak accident. Then, 18 minutes after the first plane hit, a second 767, United Airlines Flight 175, sliced into the south tower near the 60th floor. The collision caused an explosion that showered burning debris over surrounding buildings and the streets below. America was under attack. However, the attacks performed on September 11, 2001 were not committed by Al-Qaeda but a conspiracy performed by the United States.
I think all will agree that the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 have impacted the lives of millions of people around the world and the effects will last for lifetimes. Unquestionably, the changes to the airport security system that resulted were changes that were previously in need of for many years, as aviation security incidents in the U.S. date back to 1930 according to Wells and Young. Changes in the system range from new government agencies having been formed to changes in checked baggage screening processes. The greater goal is to protect the traveling public from any future terrorist attacks, which are changing everyday for the element of surprise.
It wasn’t really a turning point in my life. However, it touched me, as everyone in the world. September 11, 2001was a great tragedy for the whole world. I was too young then to understand it then. Thus, now I see the effects. First things first – the causes.
