September 11, 2001 is a day that will forever be remembered by all Americans; it was the day in which 2,823 people were killed due to the terrorist attacks performed by the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. Up to this day there are many people who do not know all the facts about this day and do not even know the number of plane crashes that occurred due to Al-Qaeda’s terrorist plans. Al-Qaeda is a terrorist organization that was started by Osama Bin Laden. This terrorist group is a racist organization whose philosophy is described as centralization of decision and decentralization of execution. This group has admitted they are responsible for the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. They stated that the United States was actively oppressing and …show more content…
Many people do not know what exactly happened on this day and are left short of very many important details that happened on this day. One of the details that some Americans do not know is that there were four crashes that happened on this day due to the hijacking of the planes by Al-Qaeda. There were four airplane crashes this day that occurred at different times in different locations. The first airplane to take off was American Airlines Flight 11 (a Boeing 767) at approximately 7:59 a.m. It was departing Boston’s Logan International Airport and was headed to Los Angeles with 92 people aboard it. The next airplane to leave was Flight 175 (also a Boeing 767) that departed the airport at 8:14 a.m and left the airport to Los Angeles with 65 passengers on board. After that, at 8:20 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 (a Boeing 757) left Washington Dulles International Airport with 64 people on board and it was also headed for Los Angeles. The first plane crash occurred at 8:46 in the morning. This was Flight 11 and it crashed into the North Tower of New York’s World Trade Center. Next, it was Flight 175 that crashed. This happened at approximately 9:03 in the morning and this affected the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Next, it was then Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon, located in Washington, DC. The last hijacked plane Flight 93 that then crashed at 10:03 a.m in a field …show more content…
There was no survivors on any of the four planes that were hijacked. Many people died in the buildings as well, and some people trying to escape the attacks did not make it. There were 1,102 victims that were identified by a New York medical examiner, but there were 1,616 victims who were not found nor identified and their families were given death certificates. The estimated total of deaths including every passenger aboard the four planes is 2,823. There were people who were rescued and tragically people who had no way out and did the first thing they could think of, which was to jump to their death. In order to try to save themselves from the excruciating heat coming from the fires that erupted from the plane crashes, people would jump from the buildings and fall to their death. The fall was estimated to last about ten seconds and would fall at a rapid speed of 125 mph. If the body was to fall in a position where someone fell down with their body straight as if they were diving, the speed of the body falling down could increase to a speed of up to 200 mph. There were around 200 jumpers who decided to die this way. While all of this was happening, there were people who were trying to escape the madness in the towers. In an effort to escape, people tried using the elevators in the World Trade Centers but some plunged to their death as a result of the elevator cables being damaged due to the planes crashing and
On September 11, 2001, members of the terrorist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes. At 8:45 in the morning, an American Airlines plane crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. Hundreds of people were killed instantly, and hundreds more were trapped in the burning building. It was thought to be only a freak accident. Less than twenty minutes later, a United Airlines plane crashed into the south tower. It was no longer an accident, but an attack. Later on that morning the third plane hit the Pentagon, and passengers overtook the last plane and crashed it into a field in Pennsylvania. The combined damage from all four planes resulted in the deaths of over 3,000 people, and injuries to another 10,000. Only six people who were
Now, both the Twin Towers were engulfed in flames. Numerous people were trapped inside the towers, since they were on the floors above the impact zone. Many people even leaped to their deaths, believing it would be better than to die the haunting, horrific death from flames, and/or smoke inhalation. Even with both 110-story buildings ablaze, the tragedy was far from finished.
Two planes, American Airways flight 11 and United Airways flight 175 flew directly into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, both buildings were over one-hundred stories tall. The first plane crashed into the north tower at a speed of 440 mph, carrying 81 passengers. The fuel tanks were carrying over 9,500 gallons of jet fuel. The second plane hit the south tower flying 540 mph at 9:03 am, mere minutes after the first. It was much lighter considering it only carried 56 passengers and approximately 9100 gallons of jet fuel. The combined explosion caused both towers to burst into flames around the seventieth floor. Under two hours, both the north and south towers collapsed,
At the point when 9/11 happened, I was an eighth grader in South Florida, and an amazingly naive nationalist. I observed with sickening apprehension as the second tower fell live on the TV in my show class. I needed activity! How set out the "scalawags" do such a marvel to my kindred Americans!
So the first attack that the hijackers did was the two Twin Towers were the first to attack. The people didn’t want to burn to death so they would just jump off and 200 people died from jumping off the building. So for the people that were in the two towers when the buildings were still the planes going to the Twin Towers the people that were still there they would just burn to death. The first Twin Tower to get hit was at 8:45 am and the time that it was down at 9:59 less than a hour it was down because of the planes. So the Police thought that there were still people alive in the Twin Towers at 10:28.
On September 11, a plane crashed into The World Trade Center, demolishing both buildings. Many people were affected by this tragedy, some even were diagnosed with cancer from trying to clean up ground zero. There are speculations that the people who did have health issues were the ones not wearing the respirators, and many died because of not protecting themselves from the dangerous fumes. Some did not realize that, it could be the last day they might see their families and rushed out without saying goodbyes for the last time. There was little help provided to the sick workers. The lawyers of the workers treat them more as heros then the people who employed them to help clean up after the World Trade Center attack. There were many rising concerns given after the attack and a vast majority of people wish those concerns would be addressed.
Everyday millions of people, more specifically U.S. citizens trust and rely on their government to make the right decisions in order to keep them safe. On September 11th, 2001, the U.S. government betrayed their citizens by letting and also taking part in the worst attack to ever happen on our soil. Our government betrayed us that day and our former President George Bush and many other government officials had prior knowledge and even were a part of the 9/11 “terrorist” attacks.
ET. Seventeen minutes later, the south tower of the WTC is crashed into by United Airlines Flight 175 at 9:03 a.m. In Washington D.C., the Pentagon is flown into by American Airlines Flight 77 at 9:37 a.m.Fifty-six minutes after being hit, the south WTC tower falls in about ten seconds. In Shanksville, Pennsylvania, United Airlines Flight 93 crashes and 40 people are killed at 10:03 a.m. Almost two hours after impact, 102 minutes, the North tower of the WTC falls. 2,753 people died in the crash and collapse of the World Trade Center towers. 184 people died in the crashing of the third plane at the Pentagon. From the four plane crashes and the fall of the WTC towers, 2,977 in total are killed. 1,640 out of 2,753 victims at the WTC have been identified, leaving 40% unidentified, as of August
The horrific events that morning began with Boeing 767, American Airlines flight eleven leaving Boston’s Logan airport with eighty one passengers and Los Angeles bound at seven fifty nine. However, the plane took a sharp turn to the south headed towards the heart of New York City. At eight forty five flight eleven went soaring into the World Trade Centers 110- floors north tower. The upper floors instantly caught on fire. Down below, plane parts, furniture from the offices, bodies, and glass began to fall from above onto the streets devastating the people below. Whenever Flight Eleven hit the north building it was estimated to be carrying ten thousand gallons of fuel causing an uproar of orange fireballs and smoke from the building. Inside the building workers began to panic and find their quickest way out so they would not burn to death. To some escaping their death could mean running down the stairs or to most, jumping out the windows. Many who escaped had serious burns or suffered from smoke inhalation. At this time, many
On October 2 2001, Switzerland’s national carrier- Swissair, canceled all of its flights due to a very severe cash shortage due to overexpansion and the recent event of 9/11, the airlines assets lost much value. Dozens of flights that were scheduled and passengers from all around the world were unable to fly anywhere. All Swissair security desks in all airports were closed and employees weren't available to assist the lost passengers, who weren't offered methods of help. Most Swissair passengers were forced to stay in the airport and had to sleep on the floor, as it was their only choice.
September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
The impact left a massive hole in the side with hundreds of people being killed instantly. Trapped in the higher floors people knew they were going to die so they decide to risk jumping out the windows hoping to land safely.
In the U.S. today, one of the biggest threats our country faces today is that of terrorism. Terrorism has been around for hundreds of years, but only in recent years has it become so infamous. It is the cause of countless discussions and debates about what should be done about this sensitive topic. Terrorism is defined as, “the unlawful use of violence and intimidation against civilians for political goals.” As such, the vast majority of terror victims are innocent. No other terrorist act has claimed more innocent victims than 9/11. On September 11th, 2001, 19 hijackers recruited by terrorist group Al-Qaeda took control of four airline jets. At 8:46 AM, American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York
After the WTC South Tower burns for 56 minutes, it collapses, killing approximately 600 workers and first responders in the last 10 seconds. At 10:03am, Flight 93 crashes into a field in 1, PA. This city is 20 minutes from Washington D.C. In this flight before they went down, the passengers revolted trying to take the plane back. At 10:28am the North Tower collapses after burning for 102 minutes killing about 1400 people. 34 minutes later, Mayor Rudy Giuliani orders anyone south of Canal Street to evacuate Manhattan. After the events of that morning, everyone is scrambling for the rest of the day. Later on that night, the final event was WTC 7 collapsing from ancillary damage with nobody inside (Huffington Post, 9-11 Research).
On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, with no anticipation of landing unsafely at their various destinations, hundreds of people boarded planes while others dropped their kids off at school, and proceeded to their daily working lives not knowing that it would be their last time doing so. Nineteen members of the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden, hijacked four planes to carry out suicide attacks. Two planes hit the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, another plane hit the corner of the Pentagon near the nation’s capital, and the fourth plane’s intended destination was Washington D.C. With the help of the courageous passengers onboard, the hijackers of the fourth plane did not succeed. The plane crashed into an open field in Pennsylvania. Overall the
