“9/11” “9/11” was one of the most significant events in history. On September 11, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. on a Tuesday morning, an American Airlines Boeing 767 loaded with hundreds of passengers crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Centre in New York City. The impact left a massive hole in the side with hundreds of people being killed instantly. Trapped in the higher floors people knew they were going to die so they decide to risk jumping out the windows hoping to land safely. The Second Attack 18 minutes after the first attack the second Boeing 767 came in and turned so the wings took out more floors and it worked , upon impact it killed around 400 people and the fire did even more damage. American History has a lot of famous historical events. One of them would be the 9/11; which is a very memorable attack that happened years back. It is a very significant event in American history because it changed peoples point of view. Many people saved, lost, and risked their lives to save others. To this day the memorial for every person still stands and is remembered for every year and day.
At 9:12 on Flight 77, staff and passengers contacted their family and friends and air traffic control that the plane had been hijacked. Approximately at 9:36, Secret Service agents evacuate the White House employees to the Presidential Emergency Operations Center. The reason they evacuated the White House is because the authorities were expecting that another hijacked plane was going to attack either the White House or the Capitol (9/11 MEMORIAL - September 11 Attack Timeline, pages 20, 22-23). At 9:37, hijackers crash Flight 77 into the Pentagon’s western facade, killing the fifty-nine on board the plane and one hundred twenty-five military and civilian personnel inside the Pentagon. This had been the third attack on the United States within fifty-one minute. To help the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) find the hijacked planes, they ground all flights over, or bound for, the continental United States. At approximately 9:59, after burning for a total of fifty-nine minutes, the South Tower collapses within ten seconds killing many rescue workers and responders (9/11 MEMORIAL - September 11 Attacks Timeline, pages 24-25,28). Around 10:15, the damaged section of the Pentagon’s outermost offices, known as the E ring, collapses. No on was injured. While Millions watched very frightened because of the events in New York, American Airlines Flight 77 went around downtown Washington D.C, and slammed into the west of the Pentagon military headquarters at 9:45 am. Jet fuel from the Boeing 757 caused a devastating flame that led to a collapse of the whole building. After all of this, 125 people were killed in the Pentagon itself while 64 died inside of the airplane. (History)

At 8:46 in the morning, American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into floors 93 through 99 of the North Tower, killing 76 passengers, 11 crew members, and hundreds of others in the building. Everyone above the 91st floor had been stranded, three emergency staircases severed by the collision.

September 11, 2001, a date that will never be forgotten, a date that will forever hold a place in America's heart. This day is one that changed the United States of America, forever. A beautiful September day, when men from Al Qaeda began with hijacking a plane and hitting the north twin tower in New York City. It left people confused thinking “was this an accident?” But, it was no accident, this was a terrorist attack. Following after, the north tower being hit, the south tower was next. Hijackers had another plane and hit the pentagon. Flight 93 from Boston en route to San Francisco was hijacked, flight crew and people on the plane knew about the attack in New York City. 9/11 was a horrible time in our country’s history, full of senseless deaths and terrible losses. I interviewed my mom about it, because she remembers the day very clearly. It had such an impact on her emotionally that when I asked the questions, she began to cry. She wiped her eyes several times during the interview, and she was quite clearly sad. There was a somber, dejected, and grief-stricken feeling throughout the interview. From this interview, I learned that 9/11 was a moment that touched the hearts of everyone in the country, even those who weren’t affected. My mom, who lost no family members, friends, or even casual acquaintances in the incident, is still brought to tears at the thought of it. The conversation shed some new light on

Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.

On the tragic day of 9/11 a day that will be unforgettable, the unthinkable happened. The terror stuck the heart of New York City, two planes crashed into the world trade center and total chaos occurred, and lives where lost, and many injured. In the morning of September 11, 2001, Nineteen Al-Qaeda members divided into four groups, stealing four commercial airplanes, including United Airlines Flight 93, American Airlines Flight 11, American Airlines Flight 77 and United Airlines 175. Two of the planes crashed into the World Trade Center buildings. Another plane crashed into the Pentagon in Virginia and the fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania. This brings to attention the testimonies from the hotel staff, the main janitor of the first building to be struck said that he heard explosions in the basement of the building minutes before the plane had even made contact, this is what is thought to have weaken the buildings structure. Also the firefighters and police that were first responders to the scene were puzzled that the lower levels of the building had been so damaged when they arrived because the planes had struck in the much higher levels
