When working in health and social care sector, the main things you will do are equality, rights and diversity. These relations hold every personality by including the health and social care sectors and all the people that works with them. It’s important to equal to every person wither there gender is different, race, beliefs, sexuality ,age, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, education, language, background or even if their skin colour is different then yours. You may also need to see the way personalities are being acted really rude, such as someone will try to joke with a person that has disability that can’t walk, which won’t be funny for the person that has disability. You can help people that are being victimized badly and …show more content…

L.O: Understand concepts of equality, diversity and rights in relation to health and social care
After the economic factors, I am going to discuss about impacts of migration on social field. First and the most important negative effect of migration in London is the high level of crime. More than one crime in five in London is now committed by a foreign national (“Telegraph”, T. Harper, B. Leapman). The high level of crime is very dangerous situations for London population. Damian Green, the shadow immigration minister, said: "Every new piece of evidence shows how damaging the government's failure to control immigration has been. They have ignored the fact that uncontrolled movements of people can cause strains on society, as well as bringing economic benefits." It means that government of UK should pay attention not only to economic benefits of migration, but also to the crime condition of immigrants. On the other hand, migration has one big advantage, it is multinationality. From the Table “A” we can see the percentage number of different ethnicities in London (UK National Statistics, 2009). If we analyze this table, we can see that a variable nationalities lives in UK and most of them lives especially in London. Due to that there is different ethnic it is clear that here is different religions.58.2% of Londoners are Christian, 8.5% Muslim, 4.1% Hindu, 2.1% Jewish, 1.5% Sikh, 0.8% Buddhist and 0.2% other
It is important within health and social care settings that service users are all given equal treatment and opportunities.
In a health and social care setting, health professionals need to evaluate care values and take them into consideration. These care values are based on the way services users should be treated as, for example, services users are expected to be treated fairly and not be discriminated against. The care workers in sectors share a set of care values which follow and set principles based on.
People are always uneasy with what they don’t know, and immigrants carry with them different cultures, languages, and the unknown. During the late 1900s and early 2000s, America was dealing with a large influx of immigrants. In America from 1880 to 1925, immigrants were viewed through a lens of racial prejudice and seen as either sources of work or of crime.
Until the 1880s most immigrants had come from the British Isles and Western Europe. But in the 1880s, the character of the immigrant
Whilst analysing the scale of immigration since the 1960’s and transformation of London into a multi-ethnic city, many historians would agree with the
Britain has changed quite significantly over the past few decades in terms of cultural diversity. Whereas Britain was largely white not so long ago, the number of ethnic minorities has been steadily increasing and this growth does not look likely to stop anytime soon. Demographic experts have, infact, predicted that by 2050, 1 in every 5 British person will belong to an ethnic minority. The question issue I will be discussing in the following essay is: what effect does this influx of immigrants and their cultures have on the social integrity of Britain and its people?
Multiculturalism immigration in Europe began a new journey for the Carribean origin. In London, the British society catches a glimpse how these Caribbean immigrant was compelled out of their community. Starting to move rapidly, the Caribbean immigrant detached themselves away from different people so they can migrate to other countries. In the article, Black London, Henry Louis Gates states, "Although it is through the quality of each man's suffering that we must begin to understand this community, it is through demographics that we begin to understand the function of its isolation" (306). In this community, there are several reason why people leave their homes and relocate, for this reason, the statistical characteristics of human population
Britain is well known for having a ‘multicultural society’, which began as a result of the government introduce immigration opportunities after WWII in order to combat labour shortages. The different ethnicities that have since migrated to Britain with the EU expansion and from India, Pakistan etc prefer/generally tend to live together in small communities which can make integration into British society difficult.
Immigration became a significant part of society in the post-war period, it redefined the public’s perception regarding culture and attitudes in society. Despite this, it is worth noting that immigration was not a new phenomenon in 1945. Britain had welcomed refugees in the past, notably the Irish who became one of the largest groups throughout the 20th century. Many Europeans also sought refuge in Britain, for example German refugees who fled to Britain in 1930 ; Peter Fryer notes on the existing black community in Britain since the 16th century. However, the level of immigration after 1945 was enough to redefine British culture and created an exclusive national identity by where ‘Britishness’ is now recognised through the colour of your skin. Race as a concept has also transformed, with culture being a major element in British society. Politics has also had a major influence, with the introduction of immigration laws bringing equality among Britain’s citizens, although this could highlight the opinions of the public with the need for legislation to be introduced. The economy thrived with immigration, noting on the Windrush which allowed the empty gaps in employment to be filled. However, despite the progress that has been made due to immigration, the reaction of the people wasn’t always as positive, subsequently leading to racial tensions and a lack of respect among the people for immigration. These aspects are very significant when discussing the development of
The immigration of Vietnamese people to the United Kingdom started after the Vietnam War in 1975. Most early immigrants were people fleeing persecution by the communists and the other were academics, students or business people. The Vietnamese people didn’t easily settle into a British lifestyle. The government didn’t give the newcomers vital mutual support. The majority settled in the Lewisham, Southwark and Hackney areas. The existence of much larger and more established overseas Chinese communities in the United Kingdom has had a significant though perhaps understated effect in helping the new immigrants setting roots in their new
Today, it becomes difficult to categorise immigrants that come into Europe. This has led to the creation of some highly diverse cities like London, which is termed as “super-diversity” by Steven Vertovec (2006). Furthermore, recent migration is not always permanent. With faster transportation systems and advanced communication facilities, migration is becoming more fluid, with people having the access to shuffle their stay in more than one country consecutively. This has resulted in new practices of residence, settlement, integration and community formation has led to a wave of “transnational people”
Manacorda et al (2012) have also conducted investigation surrounding the implication of the immigration on the wages of the native population by analysing different groups of immigrants. The research has argued that within the UK, the government has imposed diversity of measures to control and channel immigration according to the economic needs of the country. This is the reason that certain skills within the country have gained higher levels of immigration in comparison with others. The results of the study have pointed out that the overall wage decline has only been visible within the immigrant populations, while the wages for the native population have seen a steady increase over the years. Kangasniemi et al (2012) have argued that the native
The UK consists of different ethnic minorities and people with different nationalities, but what was the reason for moving so far away from home? People from Jamaica, China and Poland are some of the few who have migrated to Britain. The amount of immigrants has increased after the Second World War. South Asian immigrants came to the UK after 1947 to either escape the civil war, seek better economic opportunities or to join family members that were already settled. According to Thelegraph.com the main reason for migrants to move was for work. (telegraph.co.uk 2015). In spite of facing discrimination and racism these migrants have contributed to the political, economic and social life in the UK.
