Coaches need to have certain skills and knowledge to undertake the role. In my opinion a coach needs to be patient, supportive, interested, aware of others as well as self, attentive and perceptive. Such elements underpin effective coaching and a genuine interest in the person being coached.
One definition of coaching is “Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance.” (Coaching for performance, Sir John Whitmore 1992). Or to expand on this; Simply defined, coaching is one person guiding another through a process, leading to performance enhancement. The applications can vary, support to achieve a specific project, helping an individual to do better what they already do well, or developing a skill they don't yet possess.
Required classes to ensure that coaches know what to do are: Selected principles of biology, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, psychology, and sociology related to coaching; human growth and development; safety; first aid and care of injuries; and training and conditioning of athletes. All coaches must be current in first aid prior to the first day of practice for the assigned sport. According to the Commissioner of Education in New York State University as stated in an interview through e-mail, “First-aid can be completed through various options like American Red Cross responding to emergencies; a state education department-approved course on health sciences applied to coaching; a state education department-approved college or university on athletics training or sport medicine; a state education department-approved in-service first aid course; a state education department-approved college first aid course; or equivalent experience attending clinics, workshops, courses or specific programs approved by the Commissioner of Education in that coach’s state.” Knowing the issues that come with safety and prevention is the most important. Every coach needs to take into consideration the fact that anything can happen, and with a proper training and courses taken can help in quick reaction to any incident occurring. Knowing the health related aspects of athletics is something every coach has to have.

The prerequisites to become a football coach vary, however a four-year certification or bachelor’s degree, in game training education, physical training, or exercise and sports science is often required. On the off chance that a coach is working at the elementary to high school levels, a teaching permit may also be required.
I am currently studying A-levels in Government and Politics, History and Biology. Studying Biology has helped further my understanding of the human body and human responses to high pressure and stressful situations, which is knowledge that I will be able to apply to my coaching. I am also doing an Extended Project Qualification, where
To me an Athletic Trainer is someone that graduates from college certified to provide help to people that are injured, right out of college. This major can be obtained in four years without and further education, however; must take classes to keep up with the ever growing medical field. The main thing I think of when I think about going into Athletic Training is working at a school with the schools sports teams, however; they also can work in physical therapy clinics, hospital settings, nursing homes, etc. Athletic Trainers focus on prevention, treatment, what is wrong, and getting the patient back to health as well as working along side a doctor or physical therapist for further assistants.
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” I believe an Athletic trainer is a very wise and reasonable job selection. It's a career I'd enjoy doing which is good. I feel as if I'd do good in that career because it's something I show interest in. Without interest in a job it becomes boring, I wouldn't wanna spend every day of my life at something I don't like.
Health coaches should receive a bachelor degree in a field related such as fitness, wellness, nursing or nutrition. A master’s degree is best and will provide students with more opportunities as well as to expand their education to be able to get more jobs and reach out to more people. Being certified is a wonderful way for professionals to demonstrate their skills and abilities; there are many associations available such as the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the National Society of Health Coaches (NSHC). Some certification requires people to meet different criteria to qualify.
On a brisk Friday night , when I was only 6 years old , I was hyping myself up for the tremendous football game the next morning. The two teams that would be facing off were the Tipton County Cheifs and the Memphis Bears. I wore number 31 as the starting running back for the Cheifs.
Coaching is the art of facilitating another person’s learning, development and performance. Through coaching people are able to find their own solutions, develop their own skills and change their own behaviors and attitudes.
