Throughout history animals, plants and humans have adapted to their surroundings. All living things have changed throughout time. The thing that differs humans from rest is, humans are more cognitively advanced. Over the course of time the shape and size of the human skull has changed. Many of the early world civilizations had similar experiences when evolving to become the influential societies that affected other societies. They were called the first civilizations because they were able to form the first functional communities, successful systems of organized laws over people, the distinction of social classes, economic income, and development of arts and educations. Two of histories well-known civilizations, Mesopotamia and Ancient China had similar experiences in the beginnings of their histories, they still have a different cultural and political views.

There are about 10 things that make up civilization, here are 5 and I will go more in-depth with them at a future period in this review: Development of literacy, religion, economic classifications, social classes, and forms of government.

Commencing, Mesopotamia and Eygpt compare and contrast economically. Both civilizations didn't really have a source of money, however, they way they "bought" things was through trade, which they prospered in quite well. In the first civilization, both Mesopotamia and Egypt relied on a hunter-gatherer economic system, during that time, every country in the world strived on it. Mesopotamia had rich soil for agriculture, but experiences floods. For the Mesopotamians, these floods would destroy major cities, but for the Egyptians it would keep the soil rich all year long without the damage that the Mesopotamians had experienced.

Civilization is the period in which humans develop and organize their community in an advanced form in different aspects. As time was fleeting the ancient Greek civilization was starting to shape and adopt many alterations which started to center a more stable community. Just as the Greeks there were other civilizations developing some similar to the Greeks attributes and some differing them in different aspects.

Civilizations were able to bloom due to the development of agriculture. Agriculture resulted in more food, resulting in less hunters and farmers, letting more people become soldiers, tradesmen, and craft workers, developing more diversified societies. The leaders of farming communities and towns developed early forms of government, while a few powerful men/women ruled over larger land and livestock. With the surplus quantity food, the population kept growing at an exponential rate, resulting in the growth of towns and kingdoms. Civilizations are successful through strong leadership, good diversification of crops, and good defense or military. I think this way because leaders usually determine the general direction of their community. Without a strong leader, no group will be able to succeed long term. I also think that diverse foods is a hallmark of successful communities and civilizations. When the Irish famine occurred, it was because they only farmed one kind of potato. A microbe entered those potatoes and spread, destroying the food source. With different foods, the famine and resulting diseases would not have spread. A great defense is essential to protecting any civilization. If your community is unprotected, anything that is accomplished can be easily erased.

A civilization is considered the best of its time. The Greek philosopher Aristotle is one of the greatest scientist in our civilization. Ancient Egypt is an example of early civilization. Greater Iran was a civilization. A civilization historically was more advanced than the “barbarian” or “savage” groups of people.

Civilizations were held together by some force, but mostly they were held together by their dependence on each other. As civilizations became larger and more widespread there was less of a need for everyone to grow food, so the majority of people that didn’t grow food relied on those people that did farm to get what they needed. This required inter-city and inter-state trade. Egyptians would trade for gourds, watermelons, barley, bows, daggers and swords, and many other goods. Egyptians along with many other civilizations depended on trade to get the things they didn’t have. If this trade system was taken away a lot of people would not be able to survive. A civilization is an society with highly developed culture and technology. Civilizations have distinct characteristics,but historians do not all agree on which characteristics are the most important. Some important characteristics are stable food supply,organized government,cities,social class/structures,art/technology and etc. These are all important,but in my opinion the three most important characteristics of an civilization are organized government,stable food supply,and art/technology.

When the people who form these communities want to work on the development of their civilization then they must contemplate ideas better than ever before. That will guide them to being able to perform tasks more efficiently. Intelligence will develop naturally as new ways of thinking form. There will be a variety of thought processes, beliefs, and other aspects of a civilization in different societies. They may be based on where a civilization is located, the people of which it’s composed, or simply on past events and experiences.

A civilization is a place defined by its culture, its characteristics, and its social structure.There are many important characteristics of a civilization, but if it had to come down to 3 of them I would say social class, writing, and government are most important.Even though technology is an important characteristic to civilization I believe that social class, writing, and government are most important.
