A Day in the Life of a soldier in Training I have always wanted to join the United States Military. However I did not think I could make it in the Army. When I signed up for the Army it started a life that I have only heard about. I was amazed with the way my life went from an ordinary civilian to an American soldier. This conversion took time, effort and a whole lot of pain. This life changing decision has changed me forever and I’m forever grateful for my experience. My first day in the army was a very scary day. We started the day with the sunrise, by being shuffled on a bus like cattle going to the slaughter house. We drove for what felt like days crammed into a bus with fifty to sixty other future soldiers. You could smell the fear on the people around you. Everyone was talking about their lives at home and why they joined the Army. I mostly kept to myself just listening to others talk. I knew in the back of my mind that I left my family behind to better our lives. All I could think about is finishing basic and seeing my wife and children again. Then the bus comes to a screeching halt. Everyone was quite just looking out the window trying to get a gimps of our future. The bus doors open and walks in a big burly man with a raspy voice. He yelled off the bus now and get into formation. Most of us did not know what a formation was so we all just gathered around. They rushed us to get some food then to our bunks to get some sleep.
