As you know in the next few day it will be November. There are many of celebration during this month but today I will talk about thanksgivings. Thanksgiving is the time that we give our expression of gratitude to our parents, our brothers and sisters, our friends and our neighbors, especially to God. In the Bible THANKSGIVING is the giving of thanks to God for everything that we receive at his hand. We receive from him our lives and the food and drink to sustain us. Every good thing in our lives comes ultimately from God and we owe him thanks for all. As part of the worship of God, thanksgiving is offered in both song and prayer. No matter how great the country we might live in, no matter how fantastic supportive from family and friends might
As I begin to recollect past experiences and events growing up, Thanksgiving is the holiday that appears most meaningful. I choose to illuminate Thanksgiving because this is a time when family and friends would forget their worries and differences and collectively came together at grandmother’s house to partake of the Gullah dishes. Furthermore, it serves as a vehicle in stimulating family health and wellbeing, while passing on the identity of the family throughout generations. As I reminiscence, I can recall the air was bursting with love, hugs, laugher and kisses; a sight to behold. Grandmother’s house was small but no one seemed to care as it was inviting. Every area of the house was utilized from the kitchen to the narrow stairway that lead upstairs to the bedrooms. Children were outside playing working up an appetite although there was a chill in the air often going unnoticed, still we were bundled in our hats, coats and mittens. This was not a formal affair but we were all neatly dressed. The house was filled with distinct smells that was heavenly. Steam came from the kitchen as finishing touches were placed on meals. Watching my aunts sweat trying to maneuver in a tight kitchen hoping to avoid bumping into one another was hilarious, but I paid close attention for one day that would be me
Every year, there is one day dedicated to giving thanks in America. That day is known as Thanksgiving. In the weeks before, families will make plans to get together with relatives, and decide who will bring what food. On the day of, people will spend the morning cooking. Later, the guests arrive and most likely sit down to wait for food, watching football. These actions are just a few examples of what people are thankful for. As for myself, there are many things I am thankful for, to many to remember or even know. But there are a few main things I am very thankful for.
Thanksgiving Holiday means so much to me. I love to celebrate that extended weekend with my family. On the eve of the big day, my cousins and I meet at an elder’s house and then the festivities began. This shared feast started in 1621 with the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians sharing a harvest feast ("Thanksgiving," 2016). A portion of the food can be prepared the day before. We decide who would handle what task and when it time clean up the second generation, always try to make the third generation do it. We then continue to cook and clean and reminisce of our past year. Sometimes we would bring up our childhood pranks and stories of family members that passed and present. On the day of Thanksgiving we finish cooking,
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for all of our rights and the things that we have. We are very thankful to come home every day to a nice home with food and water, some people don’t have the nice things that we have. The rights that I am thankful for as a citizen of this country are the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech.
Thanksgiving is the time to come to enjoy each other's company and eat good. Most of the time families watch football together and catch up with each other. Thanksgiving means showing thanks and appreciation to the ones that have been so good and loyal to them. Show their loved ones they are appreciated and that you love them.
Thanksgiving is an important part of our history. This picture was taken in autum of 1621 at the first Thanksgiving dinner. The event was located in southeastern Massachuchutes and eastern Rhode Island. The piligrams are the people who ran this event. They celebrted this for their religion. They did this particular holiday to celebrate the colonys first successful harvest. Piligrams are the English colonists. They are people who travled very far to find a "holy place." The newly arrived Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians gathered at Plymouth for an autumn harvest. In this day it was a three-day traditition. As you see in te picture, food is being brought out. Food is being served and their are many jars or containers. We have
Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated in America, but it has a fairly dark history to what most people know. Most people know that the Pilgrims came over to America on a boat called the mayflower and made friends with the Native Americans then they celebrated it and made this holiday. While this is somewhat true there is more to it than that. For example the Pilgrims may have came on a boat called the Mayflower, but it wasn’t to make friends with the Native Americans but to spread
How different are our Thanksgivings really? How many people do you know that do things differently than you for Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is a time where you get your whole family together and spend time with each other. During your time together, you reminisce about hilariously weird memories and laugh at all of the amazingly fun times you guys have had together. Also, you feast and make more memories that you will have with you forever! When your with whoever’s house you go to, you get to be you and not worry about what anyone thinks because you know your family loves you the way you are.
When the great holiday of Thanksgiving comes to mind, most people think of becoming total gluttons and gorging themselves with a seemingly unending amount of food. Others might think of the time spent with family and friends. The whole basis of the holiday is family togetherness, fellowship, and thankfulness for blessings received during the previous year.
Thanksgiving to me means family time and a chains to be thankful for all we have our family, our wonderful country, and all the things we are blessed to have. Every year we go to our Mimi’s and Papa’s for thanksgiving, it is my family, my Mimi and Papa, and my Uncle's family. As soon as you walk through the door you can smell the wonderful aroma of food, and when you walk into the kitchen you can see a table adorned with an abundant amount. Then we all gather around the table and pry as we thank god for all he has given use and then we get our plates so we can serve ourselves. While we are eating we have some comical conversations that makes us laugh, we also talk about what we have been doing.
About a week before Thanksgiving The Magalia Community Church hosts a free turkey dinner for anyone who would like to attend. The Church was built in 1896 and most of the people that go to this annual event are from that era.
As we enter the holiday season, I want to extend Happy Thanksgiving greetings to my family and friends!! All of us, whether or not we realize it, have so much to be thankful for. I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity I have been given to pursue a PhD. I have been working hard at achieving this goal for what seems like a lifetime (but, in all actuality, it’s only been three and a half years). Lol The journey, however, has not been without bumps and bruises; but, all in all, it has been extremely rewarding and, with your continued love and support, I am certain I will make it through this program. Therefore, I guess you can say that I have been richly blessed this Thanksgiving. More importantly, I would like to give thanks
Thanksgiving is more than just a day off or a break from school, it’s more than just a holiday. It’s more than just stuffing your face with mash potatoes and turkey. It's a time to fellowship and give thanks. This year has brought about multiple challenges, but we have stayed faithful and strong as a family. There is nothing more powerful than our family. God has blessed me with such a solicitous family.
The definition of Thanksgiving is the expression of gratitude, especially to God. It also means an annual holiday marked by religious observances and a traditional meal including turkey. The holiday commemorates a harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621, and is held in the U.S on the forth Thursday in November. A similar holiday is held in Canada, usually on the second Monday in October.
Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to your life and everyone and everything in it. Thanksgiving is thought of in different ways and is celebrated in unlike ways. Families have divergent meals, places that they visit on Thanksgiving, and activities that they enjoy taking part in on Thanksgiving. Overall, no matter what traditions there are, what meals you have, or the activities enjoyed on Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving is truly a wonderful holiday.
