The aspect of Christianity in my own social background has greatly affected important attitudes I hold, distinct behaviors I act out, and certain abilities I have gained to succeed in life. The Macro-Micro Continuum would best evaluate the statement quoted above. There are certain beliefs that I have come to through self-evaluation of the scriptures and prayer; others have come through interaction with my family, teachers, peers and other church members. The social institutions that I had and do belong to influence many facets of my life. The culture in which I was raised and am surrounded by today have also shaped my attitude, behavior and abilities. Lastly, society has affected me; to state the effects are positive or negative would be incorrect. My perspective has been shaped both positively and negatively by society. From a sociological perspective, both a micro and macro approach would prove that Christianity has and proceeds to play a noteworthy role in my life. In The Real World, An Introduction to Sociology, Kerry Ferris and Jill Stein state, “…these two perspectives make different assumptions about how society works: the micro perspective assumes that society’s larger structures are shaped through individual interactions, while the macro perspective assumes that society’s larger structures shape those individual interactions. As a Christian who firmly believe in the Word of God, I firmly believe that the strongest argument against Darwin’s idea of macroevolution is the Creation. Macroevolution states that different species of living organisms comes from a single common ancestor. It also indicates that genetic information is already available within the species and some characteristics stand out through isolation and selection of the genetic information. Examples of evolution and adaptation are present in every organism on Earth. Organisms adapt and change according to their surroundings. As their surroundings change, they change, or they die. These are the basic concepts of evolution. Organisms will adapt to survive and thrive, or they will die out. The species alive today as a result have evolved and have undergone much change from their ancestors. Invertebrate species are just some examples of this in action, but if one was to look at the specific species of invertebrates and analyze their adaptations and traits, the evidence of evolution would be quite surprising.
