“Who would have ever thought, a rainy day on September 1st., technically it’s still summer and I’m trying to enjoy my last few days of no school, fun and sunshine, and Mother Nature is putting a dent in my program, but I guess two out of three isn’t too bad plus my dad always said look on the bright side of things, so that’s what I was trying to do.
AS I continued to walk to the store I stop letting the rain annoy me and started to embrace my father words as I took a look at my neighborhood and realize that I was that much closer to graduating college with my AA degree in Psychology and look forward to joining the workforce and getting out of this horrible mini war zone.
I live in South Central Los Angeles on 42nd and Hooper which is

“What up B.J” “What’s going on over there homey?” “What up young Rick!” “You haven’t heard?” “Damonte little brother J.Shawn got shot and killed by the police last night”. “What” “that’s fucked up, what happen?” “They say that J.Shawn was walking down the street drunk with a forty ounce bottle in his hand and the police tried to stop and question him and J.Shawn tried to leave and they shot him.” “Damn that’s fucked up, he must lunge at them or threw a punch or something for them to just shoot him like that?” “No bro, they say he didn’t do anything, what supposed had happen was when they confronted J.Shawn they was standing in front of J.Shawn and when J.Shawn turned to leave they say they feared for their lives because of the way he was holding the forty bottle”,” they say it was used as a weapon.” “The homey Bluebird was on the block parked with that head monster KeKe and he recorded it on his phone.
“Damonte, Bluebird and Damonte wife just went down to the news station to get the media involved and they got a lawyer already.” “Yea shit the police been killing brothers all over the country at alarming rates this is getting crazy.” “Shit young Rick you know how we do
The weather cleared up and me, along with my entire class and teachers, got to enjoy a beautiful ceremony. Lining up we started to proceed out to the football stadium from the gymnasium, my mind would not stop thinking. I just could not stop remembering what it took for me to get to this day. The stress that I endured studying for the SAT, filling out my applications and most importantly, perfecting my essay. The idea that I was not going to be living in this beautiful town I have spent my life in, brought a flood of emotions. Thoughts of my friends not being by my side next year made me feel as if I was sinking into a deep hole; this place, this town has had so much to offer to me. The past two years that I had spent in this place were the most emotional and exciting times of my life. I knew even though I was not going to be waking up in my familiar place anymore, I would be waking up in what was to become my new familiar place. I knew that even though my friends would not physically be there with me every day, that they would be there when I called them. If it were not for all of the people I have met along the way, I do not think I would have ended up where I am today. It just is a common thought for whenever I get sad about everything ending, I remind myself that there is a new beginning coming and it is going to be amazing. The place that I have spent my whole life
Rick is the morally ambiguous night club owner, who hides a sentimentality behind a neutral facade.
After that scene occurred, we see Rick and Jean at home discussing what had just occurred in the previous scene with the holdup and theft of their car. They are filing a police report. Rick is running for an election and is trying figure out a way with his advisors to avoid gaining bad publicity. By filing this police report after the incident that just occurred, he feels he put himself in a bad position in the election. Him and his advisors are trying to figure out what he should with the interview with the news reporters. It seemed like a normal day at the time, the sun was shining, the waves crashed on the shore, steady and reassuring. I did a lot of thinking that day. I thought of my future, of what I wanted to accomplish in life.Only now I realize that it wasn’t a normal day at all. It was the day I decided to graduate early.
September 9th started like any other day, but it didn’t take long before it was the strangest day I’d had in awhile. I came to school at 7 am since it was early in the year, and I still was adjusting to my new classes and new students. The new year was one I was especially looking forward to. I had just won the Teacher of the Year award after only my third year and my students and I all created a bond.
April 20th started out like any other school day which I particularly dreaded. The worst days of your life, well, you don’t realize them at first. Even when the sun is shining or it’s raining. You can never see the miracles or horror that may unfold. I hadn’t realized how badly I would dread this day.
There is a use of guns everywhere. In the beginning of Boyz When Tre is walking to school he discusses the bullets of a gun they heard the night before. A little girl tells him that her mom says a bullet doesn’t have anyone’s name on it. The opening of the scene in Boyz N the hood quotes “One out of every twenty-one black males will be murdered before age 25. Most will die at the hands of another black male” (Singleton). Later on in the movie Ricky is killed by a gun. Although Ricky wasn’t involved in gang activities he was still gunned down by the Blood gang. Tim Dirk is a film critic who created a genre review that is owned by AMC. Dirks Crime- Gangster analysis focuses on the characteristics of crime genre films. Dirk uses violence as a foreshadowing characteristic. According to Dirk “with the advent of a new ground-breaking ratings system and relaxed standards from the Production Code in the mid-1950s, crime films could now be much more adult-oriented and violent - during this period of Hollywood's New Wave” (Dirk). Violence is shown in almost all crime films. With Ricky’s’ death it captured all of the audience hearts. Common questions come to mind like “was it fair?” “Why Ricky?” His death caught us all by surprise. Violence is important to crime films because it distinguishes the difference between a drama or love film. Violence in America is at its high therefore we can put
Four Days in September captured the experience of Brazil during the 1960's very well. Mostly because the entire film was based on an actual event, but even relating it to Veloso's memoir and the music during that time it holds up to be pretty accurate. However, for entertainment purposes, or just that Bruno Barreto felt the need to, certain things in the film were left out. Things such as other social classes and the music scene in Brazil.
I have finally set my life on the right path, all I needed was that one “bus ticket” to get me moving in that direction. All I ever wanted was to be a great leader to my peers, and by doing what i'm doing right now, had shown to me that I am a great leader and can help others become a leader as well. Now I can say I will be committing to my well loved
In the chaos, Rick is the hard line found within the blur of their calamitous
crimes. For example, Ricky and Tre are driving away from a street party, and two crooked black and white policemen pull them over. The black policeman, Officer Coffey, has both Ricky and Tre step outside of the car, and proceeds to start questioning Tre. Tre quickly pleads, “I didn’t do nothin’!” Officer Coffey replies, “You think you tough?” He then points his gun at Ricky’s face, and asked him, “Scared now, ain 't you? I like that. That 's why I took this job. I hate little motherfuckers like you… Look like one of them Crenshaw mafia motherfuckers” (Boyz in the Hood). It is this discrimination from inside the community that, may help to reduce some of the violence, causes the very stereotype of blacks being the number one target of

Spielberg usage of documentary footage for One Day in September in the opening moments provides us with archive footage from the news reporters; reporting the kidnapping of eleven Israeli men being held hostage by Palestinian terrorists. The News shows footage of the first rescue on live television, being called off. Then shows the hostage and terrorists being transport to the airport by bus. The explosion at the airport, the news coverage reporting that all the hostages are fine and the terrorist are all dead. There is another news coverage-reporting saying that “Our worst fear is realized tonight; reporting of the eleven hostages, two were killed in their room’s yesterday morning, and nine were killed at the airport tonight. They are all
Graduation day arrived and I had butterflies out of this world. It seemed as if I misplaced everything. I could not find my dress. My family came from one state to another. I finally got to the church were the commencement was going to be held. I
As the end of the night approached us, I couldn’t stop thinking about how many mixed emotions I had about starting a whole new chapter in my life. I couldn't wait to go to college, meet all new people, get a degree so that I could start my career path, but I knew that meant I had to say goodbye to my two best friends, who were moving several hours away from me. This was one of the hardest things I had ever had to do in my life. We all cried a little, and then made promises to keep in touch, and then we were off into the real world! I was very happy to be at this point in my life, but I was scared deep down inside.
