Abuse You Lose Children all around the world are being abused or neglected everyday, and yet our society continues to ignore these children and their problems. According to the National Child Help Foundation, “A report of a child abuse is made every ten seconds” (Child Abuse). We ignore these things because, many times we are too worried about something materialistic, or even because we are stuck believing that someone else will solve the problem. Therefore, we allow children to be mentally, physically, and emotionally scarred starting in their development stage. “In one study, 80% of 21-year-olds who reported childhood abuse met the criteria for at least one psychological disorder (Child Abuse).” If children are attacked within their …show more content…

Child neglect can be classified under child abuse, and the parent of the child does majority of the time. “Surprisingly, parents are more than likely the most common perpetrators of child abuse. “In 1999, the majority of child abusers, 75%, were parents, and another 10% were other relatives of the victim. About 13% of all perpetrators were classified as no caretakers or unknown” (Black). By neglecting a child it can completely alter the child’s growth and development through the years, especially due to the fact that these parents or close friends can begin neglecting, and abusing in the early years, which is the most precious of all time. “Recent research confirms that the first five years are particularly important for the development of the child 's brain. Early experiences provide the base for the brain 's organizational development and functioning throughout life. They have a direct impact on how children develop learning skills as well as social and emotional abilities” (Child Development). This is the child’s developmental stage, and with being abused and neglected they are many times changed for the rest of their lives.
Child abuse can be as simple as one’s parents neglecting them, by not feeding them or even not showing them enough affection. Child abuse happens more often than many would think. “Each year throughout the United States, over three million children are reported to state child protective services
