Running at my fastest pace trying to catch my breath, I loose grasp of Abby. Looking around the bright green lawn for a brown skinned Chihuahua with light yellow/brown spots on her ears and face felt like hours. After dodging what felt like thousands of kids and adults, Abby was spotted standing near the silver rails leading to the water with the Manhattan Skyline. She was barking and chasing pigeons; therefore, almost causing her to go missing. Finally, I grabbed her and put her bright pink harness on. Searching for a 7 lbs. small Chihuahua through the Long Island City Piers felt like an eternity, but it was just 5 minutes of my life. Memories such as worrying for a loose dog running around to spending quality time with my loved ones
The tragic end of the beautiful Andrea Gail and the fate of all the lives on that boat is yet unknown. In the meantime, my last thought at this point of the story is I’ve come to the conclusion that the more often you go out, the more likely you are to never come back. The only way to guard against these dangers is to stop rolling the dice.
Children of all ages are constantly learning and observing their world in unique ways. One specific way children do this is through their play. During this they are able to develop different areas such as cognition, physical development, and social skills. There are many different theories that have been established that help explain development as they go through life. Through my knowledge of these different theories and how they correlate with children’s play I was able to determine the development of a preschool child.

It was 9 at night, and Abby was ready to close up the studio. All of the dancers and staff had left, leaving her alone on one of the rainiest nights Pittsburgh had ever seen. The fluorescent lights and lack of natural light gave the studio an uncharacteristically green hue. Abby walked to the front and checked the fax messages. Nothing, again.
That’s how things usually worked out around here in Saraland. Well, I should actually say, that’s how things always seemed to work out here in Saraland. Dads’ or boyfriends’ leaving after a fight never to be heard from again or showing back up several months later after having knocked up some huzzy they’d hooked-up with after a late night of drinking. Then the wonderful news would be delivered to you of a new addition to the family, and how you’ll soon be getting a new roommate.

Martha walks out into the woods with her hunting rifle ready to go. She loved the smell of the dew covered grass. She felt one with nature. Martha looked up at the trees for direction. They bent in the way of her next meal. She thanked them. Martha continued North in search of a beautiful buck. The bushes told Martha that she had a long distance to travel before she would find it. The grass and vines wrapped around her feet and carried her through the forest. She felt the warm air rush past her whispering encouraging words as she was carried. Soon the vines released her near a family of deer. There was a buck, a doe and two small fawns. Martha reached up to a tree with large branches. The tree lowered itself for her to climb on and raised her
Avery and Emily had been best friends since before they could remember. Avery can't remember the last time they went more than a day without talking, but Avery has noticed that Emily just hasn’t been Emily lately. When you first meet someone you are expecting a variety of questions to be thrown your way. For example, “what is your name?” “Where are you from?” “How old are you?” very common questions Im sure everyone knows the answer too. But what if someone were to ask you “So what are you anyway?” Knowing they are not talking about your career or anything of that matter, but your race. You are being asked a question that you do not prepare anyone to ask because well you’re a human being. A human being with a different skin pigmentation than the one asking you, isn’t that pretty obvious? I don’t expect many to understand the feeling that grows from the pit of your stomach when you feel as if though you have to explain your race to others, but it is not
