Amelia Mary Earhart had the courage and independence to do anything she wanted to do. This includes crossing the Atlantic Ocean on a plane and sharing her visions for aviation and women. She inspired many, formed the first women aviator’s association, and she tried to fly around the world. That is why I think that Amelia Earhart has made a difference. And as I have said, Amelia Earhart has certainly affected many people.

There are many people in the world who are very influential. These people impact the world in a positive way by inspiring people to follow their dreams, stand up for what they believe in and overcome obstacles in their life. Jackie Robinson, an individual that shows these traits. Jackie robinson is influential because his work to break the color barrier, his success in the battle for civil rights, and pursuing his talent and love for athletics.

Lucille Ball was a beloved comedian/actress who opened and expanded opportunities for the profession of female comedians. Throughout Ball’s career, she was able to shape an industry allowing females to participate in a career of comedy that mostly males dominated. Lucille Ball is known as the First Lady of comedy. An influential person who has either a positive or negative effect on people is someone who grabs attention and who impacts people. Lucille Ball was certainly a positive influential person.

Graham is considered one of the major and most influential dancers in America. Graham's craving for dance gave her the strength and determination she needed to become one of the best. Her incredible emotions changed the dancing world, not only in her style as a dancer, but in her innovative style of choreography (182).

     The simple fact that Baca is a woman is extremely important when it comes to evaluating her impact on others. Being a woman and reaching out for social change the way that Judy Baca does takes much dedication and passion. Bell hooks writes about the commodification of women in the art world: “...an undiscerning marketplace seeks to confine, limit, and even destroy our artistic freedom and practice.” (Hooks 1981, 17). While Baca comes from the historically challenged feminine perspective, she can reach the youth that she works with because of their disadvantaged perspective as well. They are more apt to listen and learn from her because she has already overcome the challenge of succeeding in as a Hispanic American woman in a patriarchal society.

By showing others that even the shortest amount of words with confidence, it can go a long way. She has made an impact. Although, she knows that that is only possible by having confidence. When people see a confident, strong, independent person like Alex they will aspire to be like her. She is influential enough, that people become like her and influence others. Anyone can do anything and it is especially easy when you have a positive influence. Alex Morgan is that positive influence to not only young athletes but women in general.

These are so many influential people in the world we live in. These many people positively change the world by their actions such as putting other lives before theirs, leading the path for others, and remembering to stay kind and helpful. Pocahontas, a friendly Powhatan Indian, and a brave friend, is one of those influential people. Pocahontas is influential because of her accomplishments, legacy, and her character.

Grew up on the Southside of Chicago, earned degrees from Princeton and Harvard Law School, married the man she loved, became the first black woman to be the First Lady of the United States, improved civil rights for people of color, and changed the face of feminism; these are some, but most certainly not all, of the accomplishments of the same woman, Michelle Obama. She is overall an inspiring woman to so many people that have had to struggle in life. She has done everything in her power to help those people lead a life of justice and equality that they otherwise, had been prevented from doing. Michelle Obama has achieved things most others with her upbringing could only dream of. She used her achievements to give those people a better chance. Michelle Obama has become an extremely important figure in America because of her inspiring advocacy for women, girls, and people of color, and she was doing this far before she became the first lady of the United States.

Princess Diana was known as the “people’s princess” who stunned the world with her ability to conquer any hurdles life threw at her. She also was known for showing the people that she cared. Her sudden death left the world in shock, and many people say her touching story changed their life. Princess Diana is an influential person because of her ability to overcome hardship, her unconventional royal duties, her widely recognized charitable work, and the impact of her death.

Evelyn made history for every musician with a disability to go out in the world and follow his or her dreams. Evelyn was deaf but she could play better than most musicians that weren’t deaf, she really stood out because people were shock of how good she played being deaf.

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most famous and influential women not only in the United States of America but indeed all over the world. Her TV show is known as the most popular show besides the most profitable talk show. Almost everyone admires Oprah for her personality and her intelligence that she had overcome many huge obstacles in her life before that she could build a great fortune out of her successful program, “The Oprah Winfrey show”.

Oprah focused on topics that mattered, like cancer, substance abuse, and other important social issues. Her empathetic interviewing style shaped journalism today. Before Oprah, journalists would never shed a tear or empathize with their interviewees. Today, this is a very common practice. One could say that Oprah’s television show qualified as one of her “great deeds” as described in the hero archetype because of the social change it helped bring to the United States. Her early acceptance of the LGBT community alone helped turn the country in a different, more accepting direction. Oprah is now the most famous and wealthy african-american woman in the world. Her level of success and rise from hardships is truly unprecedented.
