Abortion is defined as the termination of a pregnancy before the fetus is capable of independent life. Abortions must be conducted before the end of six months or the fetus will leave the womb and it would be considered premature birth. If the fetus weighs less than 18 ounces or is less than 20 weeks into pregnancy, it is usually considered an abortion. There are two types of abortions. One is spontaneous and the other is induced. Spontaneous abortions are known y another name, miscarriages. The second form of abortion is an induced abortion. This is the deliberate termination of the fetus. Many have pondered upon the meaning of abortion. Abortion is not only a woman's right, it is a woman's choice. Allowing abortion to e legal is immoral. A pre-born child is given the status of a product of pregnancy and never seen as the miracle only a woman can create. Compassion for the small one is drowned out under a demand for rights, but what about the rights for the unborn. A woman has a right to her own body is an idea more and more women are realizing, but that idea ignores the unborn child's right to his or her own body. Never, in modern times, has the state granted to one citizen the right to have another killed in order to solve their personal, social, or economic problems. The embryo is its own being that should have it's own rights to protect it. The zygote is a unique genetic being. If one were to abort an embryo then that embryo, that human life would never be duplicated again. For example, a scientist that may have found the cure to A.I.D.S would be killed. There is a better way to solve our problems than by killing children. A fertilized egg is the most beautiful, most innocent being that we could ever create and can redeem even our worst mistakes. This fertilized egg is not just a mass of tissue, for if it were there would be no debate. It is immoral to kill; therefore, abortion is immoral.Abortion should be banned because life begins at conception. The individual sex cell consists of 23 chromosomes.
What a woman chooses to do with her own body is her business. When a woman chooses to get an abortion, she should have the right to do so. This procedure is between her and her doctor. A woman’s body should not be controlled or regulated by politicians and the strangers who vote “yes.” When abortion was illegal, about 5,000 women died from unsafe abortions before Roe v. Wade ("The Impact of Illegal Abortion - Our Bodies Ourselves."). Violating a woman’s right to make safe choices, puts her life at risk. If the woman does not want the cells to grow into a baby, she should
Abortion is defined as the termination of a pregnancy by removing the fetus or embryo. There are two different types of abortion: induced abortion and spontaneous abortion. Induced abortion is the deliberate termination of a fetus before it can sustain life outside of the uterus. A spontaneous abortion, also known as a miscarriage, is where the fetus is killed unintentionally before the 20th week of pregnancy. Both induced abortions and spontaneous abortions can have lasting effects on the mother whether she chose to have the abortion or whether her body terminated the pregnancy naturally.
By arguing that the fetus has rights, it is implied that the fetus has a right to be in its mother?s womb regardless of her consent. This is obviously false, considering the mother has only let it be there by some form of her authorization. A fetus does not invade a woman?s body against her will, there was an act that the mother took part in, willingly or not, which allowed for a condition in which her egg was fertilized and began to mutate into a larger clump of her cells in her body and subsequently formed a fetus. If the fetus exists in a woman?s body only by her permission, how could we argue that it has a right to be there against her will? We can?t. It would be
Abortion What is meant by abortion? Abortion is defined in the dictionary as, "The expulsion of a foetus (naturally or by medical induction) from the womb before it is able to survive independently (around 28 weeks)." This simply means the foetus is removed by either a natural or medical procedure before the time of the natural birth would have occurred, before the foetus could support it’s own life. Their are in fact three types of abortion. They are: Voluntary - when the mother decides to have an abortion out of choice, Therapeutic - carried out when the mother’s health is in danger and Spontaneous - when the foetus dies during the pregnancy (the same as a
of the pregnancy. Abortion is when the pregnancy is ended to prevent child birth. The
Abortion is often debated as a women's rights issue or as a rights issue for the unborn. It is neither. It would be wrong to protect women's rights by simply ignoring the case for the unborn; and it would be wrong to protect the unborn rights by simply ignoring the case for women. The issue is not who has rights; both sides have some rights, or at least considerations to consider. The issue is not who
The constitution does not specifically say anything on the topic which means that it all depends on the definition of human life, (what I have analyzed thus far), as related to the interpretation of the constitution. In the fifth amendment the constitution states that “No person shall… be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” So there is our answer right there, no person - the writers didn’t write an age limit there or a limit for developmental stage. But what about a woman having liberty to do what she wants with her body. Is that true? Absolutely! But science quite clearly shows that the embryos is not part of her body, so her rights should not override the rights of the unborn
It is a woman’s right to make decisions about her body. If she is the one that undergoes the stress that comes with childbirth, then it should be her right to ,and her right alone to decide whether or not she wants to go through it or not. Not doing so would violate her right to freedom of choice, as well as lead to unsafe abortions that could harm the mother (Nair, 2010). Another question is how could you kill a fetus or embryo when it is the same as a human being? Which begs the question, if the fetus is alive, then so are the eggs and sperm? How do you make the distinction?
Abortion is a preparation for the termination of a pregnancy, which known since ancient times. There have been various methods used to perform an abortion of pregnancy, including the administration of abortifacient herbs, the use of sharpened implements, the application of abdominal pressure, and other techniques. Abortion was meant to control traditional child-bearing role.
Abortion rights are one of the most heatedly debates in society. There are many arguments for and against abortion. Each woman has the right to an abortion and the right to have a child. Women have the resources, rights, and respect to make reproductive health decisions that are best for themselves. (“Women’s”) We live in a free country and women should continue to have the choice to do whatever with their body, concerning women’s rights, health issues, and religious reasons.
Abortion refers to the intentional termination of human pregnancy. Abortion is normally carried out during the first few weeks of pregnancy and may be worse if done after many months. There are dangers and benefits of conducting an abortion. Besides this, countries have also laid own laws regulating abortion. More details about abortion are given below.
Some believe that even though there may be life, or potential life, or however one wants to refer to the fetus, that by denying a woman the right to an abortion is denying her control of her body. Being a woman myself, I am obviously against people trying to control women or their bodies. But the fetus is a completely separate life from the woman. It has a completely different blood type and genetic code; it is not just part of the mother's body. It is temporarily residing there, and birth is just the change of residence from an already living, active person. Just because the unborn is dependent on the mother for nine months, does that give anyone the right to choose to end its life?
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy resulting in the death of the embryo or fetus.
As stated above, abortion is the termination of a fetus. In other words, the fetus dies, whether by the mother's choice or by accident (such as a miscarriage or stillbirth.) Medically, all terminations of pregnancy not resulting in a live birth are defined as abortions. Each year throughout the world, 45million abortions are performed. Compare this to 128.6 million births per year and you get approximately 35% of fetuses each year that never get a chance to live. When discussing abortion, one aspect to
Women may have an abortion for a variety of reasons, but in general they choose abortion because a pregnancy at that time is in some way wrong for them. “Abortion is the removal of a fetus from the uterus before it is mature enough to live on its own” (Kuechler 1996). When this happens spontaneously we call it a miscarriage. Induced abortion is brought about deliberately by a medical procedure that ends pregnancy. Legal abortion, carried out by trained medical practitioners, is one of the most common and safest surgical procedures. “About 1.5 million American women choose to have induced abortions each year. Less than 1% of all abortion patients experience a major complication associated with the procedure” (Kuechler 1996).
