Many Christians and scientist wonder whether abortion is scientifically or biblically wrong. For a Christian you have to prove that God values life before birth and that he has a pro-life stance. You have to also prove that God considers the time in the womb just another stage. From a scientific perspective you have to prove that the zygote, embryo, or fetus is indeed alive. You also have to consider at what point during development it becomes alive. You would also have to prove that it is human. This would show us that killing or aborting it would be ending life therefore murdering.
In the Bible there are many verses that would bring me to just that conclusion. In Exodus 20:13 the Bible states “You shall not murder”. It is one of the

They way this verse is said would make you believe the bible is pointing to conception as the starting point of life
Jeremiah 1:4-5 states “The word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations" This passage tells us that God has a predestined purpose and a relation with us before we are born. Telling us that God has already set value on our lives even before conception
The Bible also says that in David’s confession of murder and adultery, he traces his innate proclivity to sin back to his conception (Psalms 51:5) "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me” this verse also refers to point of conception not the point of birth as the beginning of life, as do all the others. This is clear evidence that the Bible portrays a anti-abortion stance.
In all countries it is illegal to murder, if you murder there are consequences but yet people do not consider a fetus something to be murdered. This statement can be proved false by proving a fetus is indeed alive and is human.
There are three requirements for something to be alive. First it must have DNA, second they must take energy from the environment or there surroundings. Third they must have a form of reproduction. If you prove that the fetus fulfills all three of these requirements then you know it is alive.
To fulfill the first
Life is prolonged through medicine and technology. Abortion might not seem bad, but it affects the natural order (Seindensticker 2). In nature, it is not natural for a baby’s life to be taken intentionally through medicine. In the Bible, abortion is
They continue by stating that abortion is simply a process that terminates pregnancy, not a life. This is an obvious misconception since the term embryo refers to humans at particular states of development. They are not blobs in a state of development, but rather humans growing to be ready for life. This simple blob or embryo that people believe is okay to obliterate is actually already a complex form of a human. Even before the trimester stage the baby will have all its body parts needed for the rest of his or her life. Although countless scientific and medical textbooks agree that human life begins at conception, people are still doubtful whether or not our science is correct. But if we are truly uncertain when life starts, it still does not give us the right to destroy a possible life. Why must we doubt thousands of intelligent scientists who agree that life begins at conception because of religious beliefs? Can you truly say it is okay to kill a life because people’s religious beliefs? No matter how much better it sounds defining abortion as terminating pregnancy, in the end a heartbeat is stopped, and a life is not able to continue.
Every individual defines pain differently, so “without interrogation, we cannot know for sure what the fetus feels” (British Medical Journal). As we know, asking a fetus if it feels pain is impossible, and assuming that they do could be wrong. Considering these statements, abortion cannot technically be called murder. Fetuses are not self-aware, rational, or attentive like humans. From a religious standpoint, I understand why people consider abortion murder. A fetus has the potential for life, and that they consider that potential life a real life. However, stretching this idea farther, sperm also have the potential for life, but many of these people are not against sex or masturbation. Fertilization has not yet occurred, but the potential is still there. According to scientific evidence, a fetus has a fifty to seventy percent chance of becoming a feasible human being. These chances are relatively high, but not a guarantee, and not yet a life. One cannot kill something that is not yet alive.
I specify Christians because I am not familiar with the rights or wrongs of abortions in other religions. Christians use the bible for teaching and reproof. The bible is not confusing when it comes to this issue. In the new world translation of the bible the psalmist states “Your eyes saw even the embryo of me.” (Psalm 139:16) There are several instances where God has condemned the murder of an unborn child. In Exodus 21: 22-23 22 there is an illustration and condemnation of evens that cause the accidental harm of a pregnant woman. It states “If men should struggle with each other and they hurt a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but no fatality results, the offender must pay the damages imposed on him by the husband of the woman; and he must pay it through the judges. 23 But if a fatality does occur, then you must give life for life, God stated that a person would be called to account for injuring an unborn child. So, in his eyes, killing an unborn child is murder. (Ex. 21:22,
Thou shalt not kill; one-tenth of what may arguably be the most famous guidelines of morality in the western culture, and also the main driving force for pro-life advocates. The argument supporting their beliefs typically starts with the premises that a fetus is a person, and to destroy or to kill a person is unethical. Therefore abortion, the premeditated destruction of a human being, is murder, and consequently unethical. I deny the fact that the fetus, what I will refer to as an embryo up to 22 weeks old, has the right to live. The opposing argument is invalid because a fetus, although perhaps a part of human species, is not formally a person. This leaves it simply to be a part of the woman?s body, whose fate lies solely in the
The Bible says that God “gives to all people life and breath” (Acts 17:25b); it also says that man was created in his image (Genesis 1:27). Abortion gives man the authority and power to determine which lives are worth keeping and which ones are not. Regardless of whether or not the baby will have a disorder, God gave it life and breath. To take that life away is murder according to the Christian worldview. Christianity is about restoration and healing.
It has a genetic make up from the time of creation, therefore making it a living thing. It was argued that the fetus was just a mass of tissue that wasn’t really alive, but it has been proven that it is indeed a human being.
One of the toughest issues to debate in our world today is abortion. Abortion is the induced termination of pregnancy before the fetus can survive. Nowadays, abortion affects all people, not just the mother and the baby. There are moral, ethical, health-related, political, and religious aspects that affect how people feel towards abortion. By looking at religion and its views, one can see just how hard it would be to argue in the pro-choice position of this debate.
Abortion is one of the most controversial subjects that has been continually argued over for many years all over the world that poses the questions death or life. Abortion discusses one’s interaction where ethics, emotions, medical, and law come into place. According to the Webster Dictionary abortion is the loss of the fetus or unborn child before it can live outside the womb. The killing a human life is a contradiction to the norms of society, from a biblical point of view, one will believe that abortion is wrong because it is a sin that is stated in Exodus 20:13, the sixth commandment of the law of God "Thou shall not kill", and such an act should be outright illegal. Although abortion may seem to be the only correct solution for an unwanted pregnancy, it is cruel, unethical, and presents a double-standard for society; therefore, it should be considered illegal except under some special cases and medical circumstances that indicate a danger to the mother and child.
or not to have the child she is carrying. The Bible does not say much
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I
The question, “when does human life begin,” is no doubt a widely discussed and debated question that has deepened throughout the ages with the progression of new technology and knowledge in scientific fields. Growing up in a Christian environment you often hear verses like Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations,” have been enough to satisfy many believers, like myself, when having to deal with the question of beginning of life. However, being that God has purposefully provided us with the ability to think and reason, we have gotten to the point where we can closely analyze the process of the beginning of life. As believers in Christ it is imperative to look for a more detailed answer.
To understand why many oppose abortion, we must understand the concept of the sanctity of life. This is the belief that every life is sacred and holy. That we as an intelligent race are obligated to uphold this false sense of reality that every single life is a miracle of nature. Despite the possibility of developing a concrete general meaning for the word “miracle,” we can all agree that it is a term usually publically applied to events that are so incredible, that they cannot be a common or easily replicated phenomena. Otherwise, it would be labeled as such. With this loose definition in mind, we can eliminate the claim that every life is a miracle. If this were the case, Earth
As we look back in history we can see many beginnings, but the beginning referred to in this verse is a beginning that defies understanding to the extreme. We see one of the most amazing creations in this world in a newly born child, yet that creation pails in comparison to that of the creation on the world. Look around you and imagine nothing. That’s the way in was before the Lord gave us the first of many gifts that have been bestowed upon the human race.
I have organs. I have fingernails. I hear and respond to my mother’s voice. I am in a baby inside my mother, and it is legal to kill me.” said by the unborn. The killing of unborn babies is murder. Murder- the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. Murder is something thought to only happen once in awhile, but each year thousands of the unborn die from this simple case. 664,435 abortions, just last year.
