What is a hero? Does someone have to save lives to become a hero? Does he/she need superpowers? Well, a hero can have those qualities, but they are definitely not required. “What is a hero?” is a very subjective question. A hundred people could be asked that question, and a hundred different responses would be given in return. Some common answers might be “A hero is righteous,” or “A hero is always willing to help others.” Ultimately, a true hero should always be willing to stand up for what is right. By standing up for what is right, they should also be prepared to fight against what is not. A hero will also need to have good morals to be able to differentiate from what is right and what is wrong. It doesn’t take much to be a hero. Anyone, even the average person, can stand …show more content…
Abraham Lincoln was our sixteenth American president. He was an abolitionist that stood up for the rights of African Americans and fought against slavery. Even though he knew that being an abolitionist would spark a huge war, he did so anyway because it was the right thing to do. He fought for his just ideals, literally. Therefore, Abraham Lincoln is a perfect example of a hero. Another example of a hero is Miranda from Life As We Knew It. Miranda and her family were stuck in the middle of a worldwide crisis. An asteroid had struck the moon, causing the weather on Earth to go haywire. Natural disasters struck the Earth relentlessly. Disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, and more. Before long, Miranda and her family were dangerously close to starving to death. On page 328, she decided to sacrifice herself for “the greater good.” The greater good being: giving her younger brother, Jonny, a better chance at survival. Even though her older brother, Matt, tried to stop her, she didn’t back down. Miranda explained, “Well, that was it, wasn’t it? I was leaving home to give Jonny just a little better chance,” (Pfeffer
Hero’s come in many different perspectives. Some might view a hero as the fictional super heroes. Other’s consider hero’s to be modern day people. Some qualities of a hero are someone who is courageous, brave, and kind. A hero is a person who is admired for their courageous acts and achievements. They never give up even when times get hard. It’s more about the hero taking a stand for what they believe is right. Taking a stand counts more than winning.
Heroes come in different shapes, sizes, and looks. Maybe someone you saw on the street one day was heroic for saving someone’s life in a car accident. A hero to me is someone who can be brave in situations that aren’t so safe, and take a risk to make sure everyone is okay, no matter who
“It’s not easy to be a hero. You do it because of what you believe, not because of what other people deserve.” Anyone can face a challenge or a hardship. But what makes a true hero is how the person takes on the challenge. Often, heroes show feats of ingenuity and acts of bravery. Two heroes that acted during the American Civil Rights Movement, were Martin Luther King Jr, and Rosa Parks. A hero is a person who has demonstrated behaviors to ethically receive our appreciation and respect. A hero is an ordinary person who finds the strength within themselves to persevere and undergo hardships and calamity.
“A hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.” ~ Maya Angelou. Hero’s come from all different shapes, sizes, cultures, and ages. They don’t have any superpowers or special abilities, but the can reach the heart of others and inspire them with their stories. They grow out of their hardships or help others who have difficulty growing out of their own. Hero’s see everyone as like minded people, instead of focusing on each other’s differences. Three ideas that define a hero are humility, mindset, and selflessness.
When someone thinks “hero” they probably picture a burly man in a suit and cape, weaving between skyscrapers and saving small, screaming and vulnerable citizens from some evil force. Although not all heroes wear capes and fly around saving people, all heroes have a common virtue - the ability and willingness to sacrifice themselves for the good of others. Furthermore, heroes tend to follow a particular sequence of events, referred to as a “Hero’s Journey.” Abraham Lincoln was a hero because he follows Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey” and was a vehicle of change for the United States of America. Lincoln grew up in a very modest setting, and lived on the edge of poverty.
“A hero is no braver than an ordinary man,but he is brave five minutes longer”.(Ralph waldo Emerson)Some people might think being a hero is all about flying, super strength, and just having special abilities, when it really isn't. Being a hero is all about helping people when being bullied or standing up for your rights and having bravery in your mind and courage. Hero’s take risk, they aren't cowards, and they show lots of bravery. Heros put other people's feelings into to their shoes and show their empathy towards they. They don't let the go through things alone.
Ricky Martin once said, “Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Ghandi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity.” Almost anyone can be a hero, as long as they have the courage and the maturity to understand and respect those who they attempt to help. Despite the fact that a hero cannot save everyone, being heroic is about placing others before oneself and strive to help those who need it the most.
To Start off, what is a hero? Well a hero to me is someone who is admired or idealized for courage and outstanding achievements. To be a hero you have to have concern for others. intelligence is the most important reason of being a hero.
What is heroism? What is a hero? Does a hero have to have rippling muscles and superpowers? Is a nurse as much of a hero as a firefighter? Merriam-Webster defines a hero as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities”.
What is true heroism? What does it entail? Does you need superpowers? Do you need to save people from crumbling buildings? Do you need to make everyone happy every time? Contrary to popular belief, the answer to these questions is no. A hero will always help others, is brave and helpful even in the face of insurmountable challenges, and doesn’t always make everyone happy.
There are many variations when definitions what is a hero. Some people think of a hero as being someone who is strong, intelligent, attractive, and daring others think of capes and superhuman powers. Typically our perception of a hero changes with maturity and life experiences. Heroes have many different qualities that can be overlooked such as honesty, patience, compassion, and forgiveness. Merriam Webster’s simple definition of a hero is a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities (cited).
Some people think that the only heroes are the ones who are from movies or comics with extreme skill. But heroes can actually be ordinary people. For example, A hero is a person who is willing to help and is dedicated to their cause, but normally look like ordinary people, but proves they are a hero with their actions.
Another idea of a hero was when Gandhi had stood up for his country; India. “Gandhi led nationwide campaigns to ease poverty, expand women's rights, and build religious and ethnic amity” plus he had “spent a number of years in jail in both South Africa and India”. In other words Gandhi never gave up showing everyone how India should be independent. Gandhi had stood out his way by leading marches to declare independence. Gandhi had been admired for his bravery (when he was thrown in jail a few times), his confidence (he never showed any sign of weakness) and perseverance (he had never gave up).
Heroes are people who sacrifice their own life to save another’s, “hero” is a title given to those who have sacrificed something of their own, just so that another would be happier. A hero should be selfless, whether it be fictional or a hero that affected the world that we live on. Such heroes would be someone like Abraham Lincoln, Abraham was a someone who made history, he was a someone who's actions still affect our lives to this day.
Christopher Reeve once said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” In today’s society, what describes a hero is different to each person you ask. In my opinion, there are three different heroes today. There are the heroes you read about in books and watch in movies such as The Avengers and X-Men, and there are the everyday heroes such as doctors, police, and soldiers. There are also tragic heroes. Shakespeare is famous for his tragedies and tragic heroes in them. The traits that make a character a hero in today’s society is, someone who is brave and courageous, strong and fearless selfless, and always wanting to help someone else in need.
