The issue I will be talking about is about homelessness and absolute poverty in the Philippines. Absolute poverty was defined as a condition characterised by severe deprivation of basic human needs, including food, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, health, shelter, education and information. It depends not only on income but also access to services.
There are many countries that suffer from absolute poverty, when people think of poverty, but a lot of these can't even compare to the level of poverty of the Philippines. The main point of my speech that I will try and get out to everyone today, is that we should fight against the injustice of poverty that is happening in Philippines and help those who are suffering, but how would you fight something if you don't even know the full picture.
Poverty is one huge horrible cycle, where everything is linked: a poor household can lead to little food, unclean water and no school, that can lead to diseases, infections, no energy and skills to work, that can lead to very little or no income, which leads to low self esteem and no personal control and with all that, it can lead to higher childbirths and sick elderly, which finally ties back in with the first problem of a poor household
The effects of absolute poverty and homelessness are morally unacceptable, people are lacking the most basic human needs to not only stay alive, but to actually live a life, without food you lack nutrition, with poor drinking water you get sick,
