From communicating with former accounting students at North Carolina A & T who obtained his or her Master of Science in Accounting degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and have become successful professionals, I am interested in knowing how I will fit in as a graduate student and how well I will be prepared to enter into the workforce upon graduation. In my research for a graduate program for accounting students, the Master of Science in Accounting degree at UNC-G sparked my interest because the program is “designed to provide students with the necessary technical knowledge, communication skills, and critical thinking abilities for successful careers in public accounting, industry, government, and not-for-profit organizations. The program also satisfies the 150-hour educational requirement for certification and licensure as a CPA.” I want to be in a program that I know will provide me with the skills and knowledge on how to prepare for the CPA exam and prepare me for my ideal career of working in the state or Federal government. …show more content…
My mother is the AIG facilitator/Testing Coordinator at the School for Creative Studies in Durham. For the first two years in my college career, I was denied internship offers and I was getting discouraged. My mom allowed me to volunteer at her school and I was volunteering almost 40 hours a week, so it was like I was working a full-time job. This act of volunteerism prepared for me what it takes to work a standard work week and also how to take advantage of opportunities in the workplace, like asking to complete more tasks when it wasn’t required. I can truly say volunteering shaped me to be a patient, hard-working, dedicated individual. If I was willing to work without pay for 40 hours a week during my summer vacation, I know that I was capable of completing a paid
Within society, there are many occupations to explore and chose. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) results showed that my personal career strengths fall under the area of teaching and counseling. Currently, as a school counselor for a high school in Duncanville, Texas, a suburb outside of Dallas, I find the results of the assessment to be very accurate. Making the decision to become a counselor is a rewarding and exciting career choice. In the world of counsling, there are many individuals who place emphasis on not just basic implications, but also on theoretical studies that usually are a part of
I am a senior Accounting major student. I will receive Bachelor of Science- Business degree in May 2014. I am now applying for the graduate degree in Accounting at Clemson University.
Going into my freshman year at Liberty University, I knew I wanted to major in accounting. I understood that a BS in Accounting would set me up with many options in the business world to make up to six digits. However, I did not know exactly what I wanted to do with my degree. The FOCUS 2 Career Exploration Worksheet showed me many options that my degree would give me, along with the pay that goes with each. This helped me to narrow it
The purpose of accounting is to provide the information that needed to make sound economic decisions. It is one of the oldest professions in the world today, and the backbone of any business operation. It is not just about numbers, accounting is about planning. Accounting has many subfields, which includes management accounting, financial accounting, and cost accounting. Accounting can be a prestigious career, but to achieve that prestige you will have pass the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam and become a licensed accountant, and with that license you can work in any of the subfields.
Having completed the degree successfully, I will be looking forward to employment in a good accounting firm. I anticipate to earn and be compensated a substantial amount of money so that I can appreciate my hard work since early years. I will be employed as a financial controller. The average annual salary for financial controller in the US is about $93003 (PayScale, 2017). If I select to work in New York, I will earn $102048 (PayScale, 2017). There are several job opportunities in this field.
What is the importance of goals? Do goals help you plan out your future? Or possibly give you something to work for? To me goals provide a map of what I want to do, how I’m going to do it, and why I want to do it. Goals also provide a sense of accomplishment when you finally get to finish whatever you’ve been working towards. The need for goals in life is clear, because without goals, we wouldn’t get much done. Simply because of the fact that there wouldn’t be anything to work towards, and no structure to our future. One of my most important goals is to graduate college, to get a career in psychology. This goal is extremely important to me because of the fact that not many people in my family have even finished high school.

I have been working on my academic career for many years now. I am currently in my third year of community college, and have come across multiple teachers who have helped and inspired me in many ways. A teacher not only teaches the content of their course, but life skills as well. They are kind, caring, considerate, and understanding of their students. A teacher who goes above and beyond for their students is one that will make a difference. One teacher who I believe has made all the difference to me, was my accounting professor.
I plan to pursue a graduate degree and earn my master’s in accounting. I think if I gain enough experience in the field, I could build my earning potential in the long run. Also, I would still be able to branch out and explore others options if my interests ever change.
Goal 1b has not been achieved and still, 300 million workers are living below the poverty line. The global employment to population ratio which is the amount of working age people who are employed in the world has only fallen from 62% in 1991 to 60% in 2015. This shows very little change. The 2% fall was affected by the global economic crisis from 2008 to 2009, and the aftershocks. Since 1991 there has been a drop of 10% in the amount of men and women aged 15-24 who are employed. From 5/10 employed in 1991 to 4/10 employed in
