There are very many controversial drugs in the world. One in particular would be
Dextroamphetamine, better known as adderall. Adderall is considered to be a controversial drug because some people feel like they need it more than what they actually do. Adderall is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). But some people feel that they need it to help them stay focused to get a job done. Some people use adderall for things like staying up all night to work on a project or to study for a test, or just for recreational use.

When a person becomes addicted to adderall they feel like they can not do anything without taking it. They feel like they need it in order to be able to get any job done. People that are addicted to adderall mainly use it to stay awake. When someone gets addicted to adderall but then tries to quit they will go through withdrawals. Some of the symptoms of a person going
through withdrawals are depression, irritability, headaches, and oversleeping. People become very dependent on the drug when they get addicted. Kate Miller, a former adderall addict said
“without the drug I feel stupid” (www.addictcenter.com). The duration of withdrawals is different for everyone. Some people only have withdrawals for about five days. But other people could have the withdrawals for three or more weeks. Some addicts go through a process called can adderall detox. That means that the addicts are just reducing their doses until they are able to do things without the drug. But most of the time they will need some help with it.
Although some people think that they are using adderall for a particular reason
Susie Lomelino “[it] is a drug widely reported to increase alertness, concentration and overall cognitive performance, while decreasing fatigue – but it is also a drug widely abused across college campuses” (Highly Addictive Nature of Prescription 1). “Adderall is a synthetic drug that contains a combination of amphetamine salts. Approximately 72.7 percent of Adderall is made of lisdexamfetamine (Vyanse), and the rest is levoamphetamin” (Moore 90). Adderall is used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) (Adderall 1).
The main job of Adderall is to keep a patient awake and focused. For those that have ADHD, it is extremely difficult to focus or sit still, therefore Adderall is given to reduce and aid in focusing and keeping their hyperactivity to a minimum. For narcolepsy patients, since they collapse and fall asleep, adderall helps the patient to stay awake. Adderall is not used as a treatment because ADHD and narcolepsy are not treatable; instead it helps them cope with their day. According to my pharmacist, Sergey Sachacov, “Adderall is a stimulant that increases the

Like other amphetamine drugs, Adderall decreases appetite. Irritability, anxiety, and trouble sleeping also can result from Adderall stimulant properties.
Post acute withdrawal syndrome happens after detox and the duration can last for days, weeks, and/or months. Detox usually last about 5-7 days and that involves the extreme dope sickness. The syndrome’s symptoms include the inability to think clearly, memory problems, emotional overreactions, sleep disturbances, and depression. I have always heard that the major reason that people relapse is because of the dope sickness. Scott Farnum stated
The idea behind methadone treatment is to give the addict a means of returning to a lifestyle of
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a psychiatric disorder that causes children to have problems with paying attention, trouble with following instructions, have impulsive behaviors and become easily distracted. Medications, such as Adderall and Ritalin, are used to treat the symptoms of this disorder by helping the patient to focus and pay attention while also curbing their impulsive behavior and hyperactivity. Side effects of these medications are, but not limited to, anxiety, addiction and in some cases psychosis. Proponents of giving ADHD medication to children argue that ADHD is a real disorder in children and the medication does improve the symptoms of the disorder by a large margin as well as being cost effective.
The main medication that they desire is Adderall (aphemtamine-dextroamphetamine). It was first approved by the FDA in 1996 and its effects
Although many believe that Adderall only improves one’s behavior, it does, in fact, have negative effects on individuals as
This stimulant can treat many conditions but is commonly used for ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Methods: 2006-2016 PubMed research articles were used analyze the use if Adderall among college students.
First, the use of Adderall has a major effect on the families of university students. In the article, “Adderall Abuse Alters Brain, Claims a Young Life” by Susan Donaldson James “Chip and Andrea Craig say their ‘heartbreak is unfathomable,’ but they hope Kyle’s story can make a difference in another young adults life” (James 9) James includes this thought from Kyle’s parents in order to show how they are devastated about their child's death was and how they want to make a difference so other students don’t make the same mistake. This is important because Kyle’s incident will teach students to pay attention to the consequences of taking study drugs. Students will realize that every event that occurred is not forgettable and losing a family member through one mistake should not
The patient tells me he continues to do well with his Adderall XR 20 mg daily. He has been taking this now since the beginning of the year and he is tolerating it without any problems. He is having no side effects. He is eating and drinking normally. He has not noticed any change in his appetite when he takes it. He does not have chest pain, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, or dizziness. No palpitations. He does not think that it affects his appetite or sleep and only perceives benefit from the medication itself. When he does not take it, he says that he is not as efficient with his time, he does not have the same motivation, he does not have the same attention to detail and concentration. He is pleased when he takes it. He is able to get more things done. He is able to stay on past better, better concentration, and attention to detail.
Drug addiction is a complex disease, even when the person is ready to quit, it may not be possible for it to happen. To fully comprehend drug addiction
Ritalin is currently prescribed to approximately six million people in the US. Of those six million, 75% of these are children, with boys receiving Ritalin about four times more often than girls. Ritalin is a drug that stimulates the central nervous system. It interacts with chemicals in the brain and nerves that give way to hyperactivity and impulse control. Not only is Ritalin used to treat ADD and ADHD, it is also used to treat a sleeping disorder called Narcolepsy, which is an uncontrollable desire to sleep, but there is another drug that given just as Ritalin, and it is called Adderall. Adderall is almost the exact same as Ritalin except it actually enters the cell and helps it produce more dopamine.
