In World War 1, Hitler volunteered for service in the Bavarian army, where he proved to be a dedicated courageous solider. After Germany’s defeat in 1918 he returned to Munich, where, in 1919 he joined the Nazi party. In 1921 he was elected party chairman with dictatorial powers. He soon became a key figure in Bavarian politics and by January 1933 he was appointed chancellor.

Adolf Hitler was born in Branau am Inn, Austria on 20th April 1889 was the fourth of 6 children to Alois Hitler and Klara Polzl . Branau am Inn was a small town across the Inn River from Germany. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Linz, Austria . He attended school in Linz and was a good student while he was studying in primary school. In high school, he was a very poor student and angered his father. As a child, he always become clashed with his father. His father hoped that he would study to become a government servant but he wanted to become an artist.

Of the three it was possibly the Christain Social Party which he most admired (Mein Kampf 2017). To most of the world Hitler was well known for being an evil tyrant who founded the Nazi party which had around six million innocent Jews killed and another five million non-allied soldiers.

With Germans of all outlooks desperately seeking solutions for the nation's problems, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party began their climb to power. 'Hitler was gifted with effective political talents. He offered an explanation for Germany's defeat, and a vision of Germany's future destiny, that played upon the fears, prejudices, and hopes of many Germans. He promised to rebuild Germany's power and restore its prosperity' (Isaacman, 16). This won the support of many Germans. Hitler was such an effective speaker that anything he said was believed even if it was not true.

Hitler is often seen as a horrid, cruel person, but as John F. Kennedy states, he did many wonderful things for this world. Hitler’s attitudes led to his becoming a rabid German nationalist. His ancestors too were peasants, but not serfs. Unlike Stalin, Hitler’s early years were not of hardship and poverty. He was never poor or harshly treated. His father moved up in the ranks in the service and retired with the highest rank open to a civil servant with his education. He had a secure income and a very high social standing and when he passed away he left his widow and children well provided for.

Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party rose to power during the period of time right before and during World War II. Although Hitler caused many injustices and deaths, the Germans still looked up to and admired him. German citizens saw him as a leader who brought nothing but positive changes to their country. Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party were appealing to the Germans due to Hitler’s potential of stabilizing Germany’s economy, Hitler’s favorable ideas, and the nationalism Hitler was able to bring about.

Adolf Hitler was a failure at his young age, where he couldn’t keep up with school, or pursue his dream as a painter. Hitler was really a pauper, he did manage to sell few of his paintings, but the worst part was he slept on the benches and ate from the soup kitchens. He was helpless. So then he decides to forgo painting, and joins the military during World War I, Hitler’s prowess earned him 5 medals, of those five, two were the iron cross medals. He was also blinded by a gas attack at the end of the war, but he recovered. After World War I ended, Germany’s economy had collapsed. Hitler thought the Jews were responsible for the Germany’s defeat. He believed that the nation had been “stabbed in the back” by the Jews (history learning site). After World War I ended, Hitler stepped into the politics. He joined the German’s workers party; he later changed its name to National German Workers’ Party or Also known as the Nazi party. But after the uprising act in Munich, it sent him to prison for nine months. He wrote the book “mein kempf” meaning “my struggle”, which sold about 5 million copies. He attained a lot of fame after writing that book. He used his failed revolution and the book he wrote to seize power legally.
