However, Aengus, Buck, and the Speaker from Sam McGee were determined to succeed in their missions and fight their hardships with pride. Aengus spent his life traveling to find true love. Buck was determined to become leader of the sled dog team. The speaker in Sam McGee was determined to complete his friends wish, which was to cremate him.

Aengus was a man who went out into the woods and suddenly found love when he caught a trout. This trout turned into to a beautiful girl that he loved. Aengus kept searching for this girl and was determined to succeed. For example, “Though I am old with wandering through hollow lands and hilly lands, I will find out where she has gone.” (Yeats para. 3). Aengus was not willing to give up because he knew he had to find this girl. Also, he knew he could not let her go because he needed her and wanted true love. According to the passage, “And someone called me by my name: It had became a glimmering girl with an apple blossom in her hair.” (Yeats para. 3). Aengus was driven by the girl’s beauty and how she had called his name. Therefore, Aengus spent his entire life searching for her. Aengus knew that one day, someday, he would find this girl and that when he did he would “Walk among the dappled grass, and pluck till time and times are done, the silver apples of the moon, the golden apples of the sun.” (Yeats para. 3).
