Many reason why I feel voting should be at a lowering age. I feel like it should be lowered because in other countries people under 18 are eligible to participate in voting. Also lowering the age of voting would have good results becuse the percentage of people voting would increase and America ranks at the bottom. Many countries have a high population of voters because they are allowed to vote at ages under 18. If it is lowered to under 18 people may be able to experience certain laws that require you to be 18 before you turn 18. These are my points on why I think voting should be lowered becuse of America's
The voting age should be increased to 19 or 21 years of age. Most 18 year olds have just graduated or are still in highschool, so many of them are immature, and lack life experience. In addition, many 18 year olds do not have a plan(s) after high school, so if they can’t make a decision about their future what makes people think that they can make an informed decision about the future of the country. However, there are some states like Ohio that are allowing seventeen year olds to vote in primaries.
Have you ever wondered if the voting age could be lowered? Well there is a huge Controversy on it. Why? Because many young adults, or teenagers, live and have the same responsibility as an adult would .In many peoples opinion, it should be lowered .Many people think the same way, young voices matter.
British dramatist Shakespeare once said that there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. Through the ages, controversies about voting age have not quieted down, and there are more and more different opinions about voting age like it should increase to 21, or it should decrease to 17 or 16, even 13. Like a coin has two sides, each opinion has both advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, I prefer the voting age to be 18 in the United States. Teenagers who are 18 years old are independent enough to make their own decisions, and they should have the vote right as other adults do.
Should the voting age be lowered to 16 years old? There's some pretty good reasons to! Sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to vote because it is a better starting age for voting, and it will help to ease the problem of not enough people voting. Plus, they already have plenty of adult-like responsibilities. Why not voting?
Why were people wanting the voting age lowered? One main reason was because it was allowing millions of young people to participate actively in the Democratic process. Another main reason was to have a powerful voice because they were never getting heard. People also wanted it to be lowered because the new generation would have to run the future and have the next generation not letting them being able to vote could be the government in a hole that we dug so deep their would be no way of fixing it. Lastly, it paved way for the future generations and for their voice to heard also.
In my position I agree to lower the age of voting to 16-17 years old because it can raise up the percentage of voting. Many people are not voting because they don't believe it can help them and their community also with the support from 16-17 years old, it can show a huge difference on how the votes are increasing little by little. Also it can gives them experience on what's the voting like. Once they get older, they will know what to do because they registered the vote in an
I personally don't have much political experience because my parents don't vote. Therefore I don't really care much about voting. If kids aren't exposed to politics or informed on why they should vote then I don't believe decreasing the voting age will make much of a difference. If 18-year-olds do not have a high number of votes I don't see how kids younger than that would make a difference. I don't believe lowering the age is solution to increases voters. I think we should focus more on teaching the importance of voting and why it makes a difference so that when they do turn 18 they will understand why they should vote and by understanding that I believe they will be more likely to
In my opinion, I feel as though the voting age should stay at 18 and not be changed to 21. One of the reasons why the voting age should stay at 18 is because regardless of your age everyone's voice and opinion should be heard and everyone deserves an opportunity to be able to vote. Also if the voting age were to be increased to 21, the participation rate for voting would decrease significantly. Everybody says how important it is to vote so why should 18,19 and 20-year-olds not be included? If the voting age was raised, it would make things worse, and it wouldn't be right for them to not take part in voting for our political future. Many people may underestimate the younger age groups and may not see them as mature enough to take part in voting.
There have been many advantages and disadvantages to the change in the age requirement to vote. Currently the biggest disadvantage has been the voter participation percentage, followed by the demographic of the voters. With the age requirement being lowered to 16 the negatives may out weigh the postive.
Imagine, you’re sixteen years old, you can drive, you have a job, you pay taxes, you can be tried in court as an adult, yet you have no voice when it comes to the elections. Because of this, the minimum voting age should be reduced to 16.
The younger generation are infamously known for having a low voter turnout for each election. Young adults have a loud voice when it comes to supporting their political stance but the majority of them don't vote so their efforts go to waste. We can see the statistics of voting habits from various age groups where the middle and old aged are exercising their civic duties far more than those who have just recieved this responsiblity. We do need to balance out the young and the old voters, but decreasing the minumum required age will not solve anything as 18 year olds hardly ever vote as is. We should not change the minimum voting age from 18 as it won't increase the demand for citizens to vote, instead we should focus on incentives to make it so people will want participate in the voting process.
Imagine, a world where the young people had a voice in American politics! Probably, a scary thought to some adults. However, what if young people did have a voice, in American politics. In this case, the right to vote. The right to vote has been in an issue, in our culture for years. From people being the opposite sex, to people of a different skin tone. The right to vote has always been the issue, of who could vote. The voting age in America is 18, but the question is, should it be lowered to 15. I do agree the voting age should be lowered to 15. The right to vote is an important right, it would promote political participation and there are no wrong votes.
A proposal has been presented to increase voter turnout by lowering the minimum voting age from eighteen to seventeen years old. The younger voters will be able to vote on local offices but not national level offices. Allowing seventeen year olds to vote would not be fair because they would only be able to vote for local offices not the national offices. If the voting age is going to be reduced to seventeen why not allow them to vote for the national level issues such as president. This change in the minimum voting age would not be effective because the voters would rather vote for national issues as opposed to local candidates which they are not able to do. The change in voting age is very unnecessary because there are not many eighteen year
Most young people are not able to vote but would like to. The pecentage of older people that vote is way higher than the percentage of the people ranging from ages 18-24. I feel that it is important for us all to participate because all of our oppions matter. By the younger people not participating it shows lack of responsiblity. I think that everyone should participate because each vote matters. I have voted twice in my life for two different presidents, I personally felt special being able to go and vote and to have my oppion matter. It made me feel like a real amercian having the privalage to vote at all. I think that people should be able to vote and we should lower the age to 16. By the age of 16 i feel you are mature enough to be able to have the right to vote. By keeping the age at 18 I dont feel like we really got the real oppion of everyone, and it will help the low participartion percentages to go up. It will help America to understand more peoples oppions. The younger crowd specificaly our 16 year olds is our future and their oppions do matter.
Why I think the voting age of 18 should stay the same. My first reason on why I think we shouldn't change the voting laws, is because of the immaturity in the young voters. Secondly changing the voting age would lower the precent of voters witch is not in a great percentage as it is. Finally instead of changing the voting laws we should be trying to get more of our adults to vote.
