According to Hall, the supreme court says there is no right to counsel at photograph identification session. Cell phones, tablets, cameras and all around technology is paving the future in law enforcement. Agencies are even starting to write policies for drones within their agencies. Patrol use photograph identification quite often while in the field. For example, when I was going through field training, my field training officer and beat partner received an email of two suspects wanted for aggravated robbery and felony theft. We received their names and pictures via email from detectives. While working calls for service we would go to the local motels in the area that have high crime and show the pictures of the two suspects. The only names
The field of police work is constantly being forced to develop and improve its protocols, procedures, and practices in an effort to keep pace with the ever-changing society in which it operates and criminal behavior it seeks to eradicate. While the history of policing has been marked by substantial changes throughout time, the work of modern-day police officers and officials demonstrate some of the most substantial adaptations to its surrounding environment that the field has ever seen. In order to understand where the future of policing is heading, it is important to first understand these current trends that are affecting the current landscape of the profession. By
Our facility offers one-on-one counseling. This counseling will take place between a prisoner and a criminal social service counselor in a guarded room. The counselor will be able to have multiple sessions with prisoners to find the root of their problem and hopefully be able to work on ways to resolve some of their underline issues. They will be able to
Law Enforcement officers have one of the most critical jobs in the United States. Their lives are always on the line and they are of high regards. This means they cannot fail! The results of their jobs do not only depend on their actions but also on the people. What this means is the community has a huge role when it comes to solving crime. Though many people may not believe it, they are the key to a successful crime prevention community. The people of the United States don’t really understand both the positive and negative effects that community policing actually brings. Some may say it is very dangerous based on their experiences. Others may say it’s the best way to do away with crime. Today the two will be compared and put to test by true officers serving our country. The facts will be stated and questions will be answered. Let’s take a look at what community policing is really all about!
All together law enforcement has changed, but few see the drastic changes that have happened. Everyday, police and sheriffs are working to keep the people in their community safe. With improved technological advances and social changes, police and sheriffs are keeping a closer eye on things today. For example, improved weapons such as tasers have helped keep suspects safe, computers in police cruisers allow instant access of information of individuals. Other social changes, such as women allowed to join the police forces have helped law enforcement a lot with domestic violence cases because they are calmer then most men. No matter what happens police and the sheriffs will be there to protect and serve
n effort to correct these abuses. Seattle, Oakland, and New Orleans Police Departments have also been placed under Federal monitoring after similar suits were filed against those agencies (Winston, 2013).
The nation was jarred by events that occurred in 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri; Staten Island, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; and in 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland. These events which followed officer-involved incidents in these American cities and around the nation exposed deep divides between communities and their police departments. As the discord reached a fever pitch, law enforcement agencies nationwide began the process of self-evaluation, reflecting on policies and practices and implementing innovative strategies to better engender community policing principles, build trust, and allay fear.

Terrorism has never been in the States; only in third world countries. Since 9/11-2001 is has been a reality and ongoing nightmare and hit close to home. The attack on the World Trade Centers in New York was a wakeup call. United States has been on high alert ever since, waiting for the next possible Terrorists attack. This paper will explain why terrorism is a law enforcement concern as well as how terrorism is considered a crime. At last the paper will state some recommendations that the American Criminal Justice should do, to better prepare for future crimes.
Photograph identifications sessions are used in identifying a suspect. A defendant does not have a right to legal counsel when photos are being viewed by witnesses or victims. This decision was determined by the Supreme Court. The photographs are arranged in a professional manner to where a suspect isn’t pointed out when they are viewed.
Why is it that America, a country of freedom and opportunity, is the country that is stripping its people of their freedom the most often? It is unfortunate that everyday, police officers break their vows to “remain composed and respectful” and avoid behaving in an “abusive, oppressive, harassing, bullying, victimising or offensive” way (Swinford). This nation that boasts to the world about its benevolent treatment to its citizens has a sinister way of treating people differently depending on their various traits. It becomes more and more obvious with each succeeding case that America’s law enforcement teams are not as colorblind as they should be and claim to be; people, especially those of color, are being incarcerated at an alarming rate. The United State’s incarcerated population increased by over 500% over the last 40 years, rising to about 2.3 million people (SentencingProject). While it is not practical to expect our police officers to be able to apprehend every single criminal, it should not be too much to ask that they do it in a fair and unbiased manner. Protests such as Black Lives Matter still happen today because there is still inequality happening on a large scale everyday, especially in our law enforcement system. Minorities are the primary victims of the whole issue. It is ironic that America, a nation built on freedom, has a critical problem of mass incarceration. Although the United States pledges to be a nation of equality and opportunity, the surplus
1. Identify and discuss the eight (8) recurring reasons that change occurs in law enforcement agencies.
In this week reading, I learned about all the different future society changes in policing. There is numerous influence of changes like aging population, cultural diversity, shifting economics, immigration and migration. There has been a huge increase life span since the twentieth century. People who were 65 older only made up 4 percent of the population, now they make up 14 percent of the population. When the economy goes bad it affects the demand of police officers and crime. As people become more diverse and older they start to migrate to find a better life in other states.
The future of policing article was very intriguing. When risk assessment is done properly it allows businesses and individuals to plan ahead and develop contingency plans that are ready to be implemented should certain events occur. This not only makes the process more efficient, it also reduces some of the stress that can occur when something unexpected happens.
In order to counteract the events that followed as the influx of immigrants from Cuba law enforcement must be able to think quickly. Law enforcement is expected to make the right decision within a matter of seconds when it comes to a life or death situation and implementing changes in the department are no different. It is a difficult task to be able to adapt to the ever-changing environment that they are required to serve and protect. It is important that there be a strategic plan in place and easily understood missions of the department. In amidst of the chaos that is going on in the department ranging from helping in community events to solving murder crimes the department must always have a clear objective. The need for law enforcement
I like what you said in your paper and at the end of the day you are totally right. Indeed, even after September 11, with all the devastating catastrophe this nation had to endure, you would think all law enforcement agency would come together and share data so every department will be on the same agenda.
