My Path to The United States Air Force I always wanted to go into the military as a little kid. Now, actually being at the age of what I need to decide on what I’m going to do for my future is a little harder than I thought it was going to be. I have chose to do my project on The United States Air Force. It has always intrigued me to join the military because of my grandfather. He was in the Air Force and always told me stories about when he was in the service. I really wasn’t sure about what branch to go into because I didn’t really know what pays the best, but which is also the safest. This project has showed me that the Air Force is the safest option, and pays the best out of all of the branches of the military. So, this …show more content…
It has everything I would have ever dreamed of on base. It has the accomidies of everyday life of an average person that would happen to live in a city. For example they have their own sports teams, grocery stores, world class gyms, and family oriented living accommodations. The best of all is that everything and anything purchased on base is tax free. For my interview I decided to speak with Major Heckman. He is currently in charge of the recruits at Penn State University, for students wishing to join the ROTC program. I was able to speak with him through my mothers assistance. I was looking for someone with the knowledge about the ROTC program and she found the perfect candidate to do so. Major Heckman was extremely knowledgeable in the process and requirements for becoming a pilot and explained to me what it was going to take. During the interview, I learned that grades are extremely important and hard work and dedication will pay off in the end. In order to become a pilot in the US Air Force, I will go through four years of training after college and must commit to ten years serving my country. The courses that are required depends on the route I wish to take. I will definitely need to have a strong foundation in math and science. The Air Force is looking for recruits in various areas such as Aeronautical Engineering, Meteorology, Civil Engineering. If the technical is not for you, one can also major in
On Nov 2013, the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) awarded the contract to “modernize” its existing custom developed application Cadet Administrative Management Information System (CAMIS) II to the Solers Corporation (Solers Corporation, 2016). CAMIS was developed over several years and began to encompass support for many disparate business processes at the Academy, but primarily served as a Student Information/Management System. This modernization effort or CAMIS III was the third iteration of moving CAMIS from a legacy system to a new platform. Almost 2 years later: Mar 2016, this project ended with the government decision to discontinue the modernization effort. This was done by primarily not exercising option years and stopping funding on the modernization development line item of the contract. (Paulson, 2015) Despite modernization effort ending, the government continued to support the CAMIS III operations and support portion of the contract, as well as the legacy CAMIS II contract. This paper attempts to analyze why this software project failed, based on the personal experiences and perspectives from the overall combined team and attempts to understand why. The major reasons for failure included: gross underestimates (scope, cost, and schedule). However, there were opportunities to achieve a better outcome. These opportunities were failures by the program manager, vendor team, and management stakeholder expectations.
From knowing how much college education I would need to become a stay home mechanic to everything the military could do for me while still pursuing my dream of wanting to be a mechanic. The most interesting fact I found out was that while in the Airforce and training to become a mechanic, I can retake the military state test to qualify for an even bigger job in the Airforce and do a cross training exercise to become both a mechanic and any other job I want to pick that I qualified for. This tells me that I will not be stuck doing one job for twenty years until I retire from the military, so I will always be busy with either a job or class. To me that sounds like everything I have ever wanted in one sentence, to always be learning, always working and getting paid to do
First off Congrats on the promotion to a very distinguished rank, part of the elite officers of the Armed Forces. I know it is well deserved. I appreciate the opportunity I was bestowed to meet you and also having my spouse be a part of your leadership team. I wish the best for you and your family as you pursue the next leg of your military
The Royal Canadian Air Cadets is an example of a community activity that I have actively taken many leadership roles in. Having served the Royal Canadian Air Cadets for more than four years with the 540 Golden Hawks Squadron, I partake in various activities. I have also learned numerous invaluable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership and confidence, all of which are not spoon-fed to us, but rather acquired from the experiences that I have been through with cadets. We are constantly coached and supervised by Officers who encourage us to lead others. As we age and climb up the ranks, we are encountered with many leadership opportunities that we are strongly encouraged to take.
My goal in attending a United States Service Academy and becoming an officer in the military is to provide myself ample opportunities to reach my established life goals. I plan to pursue a career in aerospace engineering, and developing that career through one of the academies will help me to achieve the dreams I had as a child. I have many strengths that will help me stand out in the application process, but at the same time, I have challenges to overcome. However, these obstacles will not hinder me from from pursuing my passion.
Moreover, the military also gave me the opportunity to travel abroad. Living in countries such as Korea, Spain, and Germany and immersing myself in their cultures has given me perspective on the differences between the United States and other countries. Each place I have lived has been unique in some way, from the different languages to the variations in cultural practices. Dealing with individuals with different backgrounds has helped me develop a good rapport with people.
The Unites States Air Force is a huge organization that employs a huge workforce annually who works as its security forces. The organization's mission is to fly, fight, and win all battles in the air, cyberspace, and air. As a huge organization, it acts as one of the most attractive options for individuals who are seriously considering a career with the security forces. However, such individuals should conduct an adequate research before choosing to seek for job opportunities with the organization. This is largely because individual responsibilities in the United States Air Force contain various risks that are associated with different jobs.
There are many career fields available to young adults in the United States of America, some of which include the military. The Marines is a great career field because people can apply themselves in a structured environment gaining self respect along with learning skills that will help them later in life. Specifically, the Marines are a proud organization that celebrates their history, uniforms, as well as their principals and values.
My initial interest in the Air Force Academy was sparked when I accompanied my parents to a Military Child Education Coalition conference in the summer of 2004. My father and I, not involved in the conference, decided to spend the week exploring the Colorado Springs area, and after touring for several days, decided to go to what my father called "Zoomie U". We took the typical summer tourist tour, but I was enthralled. The chapel, the mountains, and the campus excited me, despite my youth. I spent the rest of the vacation asking questions on how to go to the Academy, what I could do in the Air Force,
Many people are concerned about the U.S. military because of how many risks come with joining it. However, the U.S. military also explains the benefits that one could receive. Joining the military is a decision that should not be taken lightly. One must understand all aspects of the military. In order for a voter to be fully informed about joining the US military, one must consider both the risks, like mental illnesses and commitment and benefits, like education, and experience.
Over the course of your life you make multiple life changing decisions. The decision to leave civilian life and my current career as a financial advisor and to join the Navy as a pilot is one of those and one I don’t take lightly. It comes with deliberate thought and a lot of self-introspection. Through this process I have discovered that becoming a naval aviator is part of who I am and that I have what it takes to become an officer in the United States Navy. I grew up in a household with a military background.
I would be eligible for this occupation because I love to be active, and I was in cross country. I am able to run long distances without taking a break. My relatives were in the army like my great grandpa who participated in both of the World Wars. My grandpa used to be in the Vietnam War; he talks about it a lot in his spare time. My family has been in the military, but some of my past relatives have. The US Airborne provides excitement, education, opportunity, and competitive wages.
Overview of Main Points: First I am going to talk about the benefits of joining the Air Force where I will go over the education benefits, specialized job training and lastly the opportunities of world travel.
The Army and the Air Force have many similarities and differences, some of the similarities are the troop’s dedication, diversity, and patriotism, and some of the differences are the way each branch trains, their respective customs, and quality life.
