When people read or watch The Notebook, they automatically relate it to the concept of romance, young love, but more than anything true love. This story has a Romeo and Juliet contrast, but nevertheless also brings out many psychological concepts that play an important role in the story. Yet, many people seem to ignore these concepts and decide to pay much more attention to Allie and Noah’s love struggles. The following paper will be describing as well as highlighting psychological concepts The Notebook contained. From Alzheimer’s disease to parenting styles and the theory of love, The Notebook has been capturing the attention of millions of true love believes all around the world. Reality is, the film also captures daily
The Notebook demonstrates the growth and development theories including biosocial, psychosocial, and cognitive. The Notebook is a movie about a young couple who falls in love. The woman, Allie, is from a wealthy family who is discouraged when she has fallen in love with a young man, Noah, who only makes .40 cents an hour (Cassavetes, 2004). The story is told through a “notebook” that Noah is reading to Allie, whom has Alzheimer’s disease. Allie has no clue that Noah is her husband due to her disease. Noah has hope that Allie will eventually recognize the story he is telling her and realize it is her husband
The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.
A comparison between both mediums for The Outsiders can be made by showing both of their advantages and disadvantages to show that one of them is better than the other.
The main characters in The Notebook include: Allie, Noah, Allie's parents, and Noah’s father. Allie is a young city girl, who comes from a wealthy family, who spend their summer vacation in Seabrook, where Noah is from. Noah is a young country boy, who comes from a poor family. Noah and Allie meet through mutual friends, and end up
The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is because that main characters Noah and Allie go through so many trials and finally end up together in the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I now feel as if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better understanding of how lifespan development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of development was created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get passed them properly we will end up with
The different descriptions and dialogues of Allie and Noah are what bring the change into their relationship. In the novel, Noah is described as a quiet and shy poet. “Although he was quiet, years of heavy lifting at the lumberyard helped him excel in sports, … An occasional person found him arrogant; most simply figured he had grown up a bit faster than everyone else.” (Sparks 24) Whereas in the film, Noah is very outgoing and confident. He does not stop until he gets what he wants. This is evident when Noah climbs on the ferris wheel and hangs from the bars at the carnival where he asks Allie to go out with him. She refuses and he blackmails her by making her think that he will fall down from such a height. Allie becomes frightened and agrees to go out with him, little did she know that this was his plan all along. The change in Noah’s description changes his personality and the way the audience views him as an individual character. Allie and Noah’s tone of dialogues are also changed to make them seem more modern. In the book, Allie agrees to spend time with Noah without any objection. “…the four of them stayed at the festival until the crowds were thin and everything closed up for the night. They met the following day, and the day after that, and they soon became inseparable.” (Sparks 13) This circumstance would not exist in today’s society as females have their personal preferences. This is seen in the movie when Allie plays ‘hard to get’ and rejects Noah several times when he reminds her of the date. “‘What are you doing tonight?’ … ‘Why?’ ‘Why? Our date.’ ‘What date?’ ‘The date that you agreed to.’ ‘No!’ ‘Yes, you did. You promised, and you swore it.’ ‘Well, I guess I changed my mind.’ … ‘Come on, one date. What's it gonna hurt?’ ‘Umm..I don't think so.’” (Cassavetes) Noah is also very understanding with Allie’s decision to leave him
