4. What are the hormonal and physical changes going on in Amber during her pregnancy? What is keeping her from menstruating as normal?
Physiological changes occurring in Amber’s body are happening in her gastrointestinal, urinary, respiratory and cardiovascular system. She is feeling sick because of the increased hCG, progesterone and estrogen levels. Her story is only until her 11th week of her pregnancy, but she may feel many symptoms throughout the rest of her pregnancy if it is not aborted. Those symptoms could be increased urination because the kidneys are disposing of fetal metabolic waste as well as her own. Blood volume also rises to help accommodate the fetus’ needs (Marieb & Hoehn 2013).
An over production of the hormone progesterone is created which stops the follicle-stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Those are the hormones needed for an egg to be released and travel down into the uterus for a menstruation cycle. If that does not occur, there is not menstruation (Marieb & Hoehn 2013)
5. How does a pregnancy test work?
At home pregnancy tests can be purchased over the counter or a blood test can be performed at the doctor’s office. They both check for the human Chorionic Gonadotropin, hCG, hormone that is produced during pregnancy. The home pregnancy test uses urine, and the doctor’s office tests blood (Women’s Health 2006).
6. How can we account for Amber’s symptoms?
It sounds like Amber is having

----An abortion is a medical procedure the effectively terminates a pregnancy by destroying the fetus in the mother’s womb. Abortion had been previously banned in 30 of the USA’s states, however, in the 1970s, a major dispute in the Supreme Court ended with retracting the decision to ban it. The new ruling essentially made abortion legal in all of the US states, however, major controversy has still clouded the topic. All of the US states have to accept abortion in the early stages of a mother’s pregnancy, despite their personal viewpoints, But they are allowed to forbade an abortion if the choice is made in the later points of the fetus’ growth. The fetus begins to take shape after the first trimester, no longer an unidentifiable group of cells. The major discussion is whether abortion should be banned or allowed, each side having exceptions to their
Ann was date-raped when she was only 17 years old and found out she was pregnant. Her parents pressured her into marrying her current boyfriend, or the date-rapist, to prevent family embarrassment and keep him out of jail. Ann’s boyfriend was told that beating her would cause a therapeutic abortion, so Ann was subjected to horrid treatment including throwing her against walls and choking her. When Ann left her boyfriend, she was not allowed to get an abortion, and her baby was born with extreme brain damage. She says “A simple legal abortion would have spared me so much anguish, so much torment and suffering… What was gained by laws that kept me pregnant against my will? Nothing, except the rapist got away with his crime”(Ann’s Story 1). Abortion is a highly debated topic which involves the termination of a pregnancy to best suit a mother’s situation. A fetus is comprised of sperm and eggs, which are most of the time disposed of naturally. A fetus, however is not a human being with rights until it is outside of the womb. Abortions must remain legal because women should be able to have control of what they do with their bodies, there is a difference between religion/ beliefs and law, and abortion is inevitable so keeping it legal would be safer.
The greater part of the 16 young ladies are planned to experience an abortion, however two of the impregnated young ladies' families have apparently conceded that they have chosen to convey the conception to term being passionate
"Those who believe it is not a baby until it is born have less of a chance of experiencing negative emotional consequences,"("Emotional"). Ashley had went through the a minor depression since the abortions had occurred and she might have cared for her unborn child and thought it is still a baby if unborn. The decision of weather to choose adoption, to parent, or to have the abortion is mostly the choice of the mother. With this life-changing decision, Ashley had stayed up for nights on trying to decide on on of those three options and also caused her to be exhausted even before the abortion occurring. People can have side effects that range from anger to guild or Eden anxiety, and with those emotions the person might not get enough sleep ("Emotional"). After deciding to continue with abortion, major waves of emotion had caused to lack the sleep that she needs to be positive through the day thus causing Ashley to fall into
5. What is the difference between apocrine, merocrine and holocrine glands? Which is the most common?
When I was only 15 years old, a close friend of mine got pregnant. After spending a few days talking it over with her parents and now ex-boyfriend, she elected to have an abortion. At first I was totally appalled that she had reasoned to kill her newborn child. “How could someone find it so easy to take away another life?” I thought. Now, three years older and more mature me is finally able to process the reasoning behind not keeping the child.

Estrogen and progesterone are involved because it aids in the stopping of a woman period. It allows the fluid in the virgina to become thick and the uterus lining so the fertilized egg cannot attach.
An 18 year old girl gets pregnant and can’t decide whether to keep the baby or have an abortion. Her parents are very religious and do not believe in sex before marriage therefore would not take to kindly to their daughter being pregnant.
The amount of oestrogen and progesterone produced slows down and the body eventually stops producing them as a woman gets older and goes through menopause. These hormones are important in pregnancy because oestrogen is involved in keeping the reproductive system healthy; and it also makes the lining of the womb grow to prepare it for an embryo implantation. The progesterone hormone supports the pregnancy, prevents periods, thickens the lining of the womb and makes the lining of the womb secrete nutrients which are needed for developing an embryo. If the levels of progesterone and oestrone are reduced, the baby may have a problem with growing in the womb because the lining may not be thick enough.
The menstrual cycle is something that a lot of girls and even guys have questions about. The menstrual cycle is something that only girls go through once they experience puberty. It is nothing more then the route of an egg through the female’s reproductive system. The menstrual cycle starts as the egg matures in the ovary. The egg is then released from the ovary during the process called ovulation. The egg then travels in the fallopian tube until it reaches the uterus. If it is not fertilized by a sperm, through fertilization, then it out of the body in a process known as menstruation, or a period.
