We cannot condone the fact that grandmothers such as 78-year-old Josephine Cesnik was beaten and threatened in her own home earlier this year. Mrs. Cesnik died nine days later, afraid of seeking help because she feared her attacker would return and kill her. We cannot condone the fact that eight-year-old Sofia Rodriguez Urrutia-Shu was raped and murdered in a Perth public toilet in June 2006. Mrs. Cesnik’s family was robbed of a loving grandmother, while the Urrutia-Shu family lost a sweet, quiet little girl. These cowards have completely shattered many lives, while the both the Howard and Rudd governments have the audacity and hypocrisy to allow 6 members of the Bali Nine to be executed by firing squad overseas! A twisted life allowed to continue cannot redeem the innocent life taken, nor can it repair the lives destroyed.
In what ways has the different cultures integrating into Australia changed the food and hospitality industry?
“These folks have been victimized twice. Once when their daughters, their sisters, their mothers have gone missing. And then, a second time when the justice system has utterly failed them in the pursuit of the justice they so rightly deserve. There can be no solution until we get to the truth in the heart of the matter, that this is a complex issue. The sources of this violence against Aboriginal women and girls is complex, but it… there’s no possibility of finding those solutions unless we actually have the truth on the table. And the resistance from this government time and time again, to have the courage and the leadership to approach this conversation and find that truth… is yet a third victimization of these families” (Pope C. & Smiley M., 2015)

She is a Hmong from Laos like her parents and family. They have to learn their ways of living and their beliefs but also learned to fit in with the American society including their Hmong Culture. They were all living in different parts of the United States. Some people might not agree with their beliefs because they came here as refugees from their homeland Laos. Because in the 1970s, war and conflict caused many of the Hmong people in Laos to flee to refugee camps (Yang 53). Since the Whitlam Government passed the Racial Discrimination Act in 1975, the notion of “White Australia” was thought to have disappeared with it all together. However, time and time again, like cancer it strikes without warning. Though the media and government believe Australia has been inherently free from the White Australia notion, it has yet to truly disappear from modern day Australia. To understand why the White Australia notion has yet to disappear, an examination of Pauline Hanson needs to be taken into account, with a primary focus on her political party, One Nation’s beliefs and ideologies. Furthermore, a close look at our own government’s policy towards asylum seekers with a brief look at their treatment in Australian

"Closely linked to the Bad Māori pattern are a series of ideas that constitute the theme of Māori Crime. Built upon Western cultural stereotypes of the ‘Other’ (McCreanor, 1997; Salmond, 1991), the pattern centers on the notion that Māori are inherently violent and criminal (McCreanor et al., 2011). Terms including primitive, tribal, savage and uncivilised, underpin contemporary usages in which ‘gang’, ‘domestic violence, home invasion, terrorism and similar ideas are a default setting for Māori. Other elements include theft, corruption, nepotism, fraud and general dishonesty."
Australia is a settler nation which is now made up of many ethnic groups who share similar cultural traditions, common language, shared history and a shared identity (ABS, 2016). These groups contribute to what is referred to multiculturalism. Australia has a higher proportion of people born overseas than the US, Canada and the UK, with 49% of Australia’s population (or a parent) being born overseas (Census of Population and Housing, 2016). Compared to other Western nations, Australia has one of the most diverse immigration populations (Collins, 2013, p. 145). The meaning of multiculturalism in Australia has changed significantly over time. Today, Australia is a culturally and ethnically diverse country and therefore is a multicultural society. In terms of public policy, multiculturalism can be defined as policies and practices implemented by the Australian government that aim to manage cultural diversity to benefit the whole of society (Department of Social Services, 2014). Although Australia is a multicultural society, there are criticisms of public policy surrounding multiculturalism.

Biculturalism has a massive role in Aoteaora New Zealand’s society and has a massive impact in its history. Having a clear understanding of it is crucial in order to be more appreciative of how diverse New Zealand’s society has become, and it also helps us discern the negative aspects of diversity and multiculturalism. Individuals who identify as Maori currently make up 15% of New Zealand’s population (Quince, 2007) , this reduces when age is taken account; where of New Zealand’s population over 15 years old, 12.5% identify as Maori (Elers, 2012). Grossly disproportionate to this is the representation of the Maori population in New Zealand crime rates. Studies have shown that in New Zealand, Maori individuals are approximately 38-39% more likely to be prosecuted and convicted of an offence than non-Maori. They also showed that Maori individuals were nine times more likely than non-Maori to be kept in custody whilst awaiting trial for an offence. They are seven times more likely to receive a custodial sentence after conviction and are markedly less

“It’s a small world,” is an expression that has been used for a long time to describe how connected the people of the world can be in spite of the vast geographical distance that might exist. This sense of connection is due, in part, to the actions that exist in the business sector and the globalization of business and industry. As organizations strive to remain competitive, many recognize the necessity of global outreach in order to sustain a strong presence throughout the world. There are many opportunities and challenges facing businesses with an eye toward global outreach.
